Five ways to see a result
The same letters, five instruments.
Every search opens in all five views. These are stills taken from the laboratory itself, on real searches; each opens that search live.

The matrix
The text laid out at any width with a live slider, up to 6 terms in their own colours. Every letter opens its verse.

The cylinder
The same rows wrapped round a drum, so a row's end meets the next row's start. Drag to turn it; it opens on the whole drum and eases to the letters.

The map
Where every sequence starts, tick by tick along the books, with the exact count for each book. Point at a book or a tick to read it; the whole Tanakh rides above.
Open this view
The spectrum
How many sequences stand at each skip, forward and backward, against the line of what chance alone would give at that skip.

The skip walk
The sequence walked letter by letter: count the skip, land on the next letter, and see the verse and word it lands in.

The search bar holds every choice in plain words. Each example below opens a real search in the laboratory.

Type a name, a word or a date in English. The field lists every Hebrew spelling it knows — each with its meaning and a “read:” line in Latin letters — and searches the one you choose. Never an automatic pick. These rows are the engine's own answers.

Honest by design
Every count beside what chance would give
The laboratory measures. It never says a sequence means anything: it counts every sequence at the skips you chose and prints, beside that count, what chance alone would produce in the same letters — with control runs on shuffled copies of the text, and a comparison with a book of similar length.
- Term
- תורה
- Skip
- 50, forward
- Found in Genesis
- 3
- Chance alone
- about 2.2
- Starts at
- Genesis 1:1, the ת of בראשית (letter 6 of the Torah)
In Genesis, תורה appears 3 times at skip 50, forward; chance alone would give about 2.2 in the same letters, and the chance of at least 3 is 0.38.
Observed by Rabbi Michael Dov Weissmandl (1903–1957), as recorded by his students after his death; the observation is widely cited.

Questions, answered plainly
What is a Torah code?
A Torah code is an equidistant letter sequence: start at one letter of the text and take every nth letter — the skip — forward or backward, and see what the letters spell. The laboratory measures: it counts every sequence of a term at the skips you choose and prints beside that count what chance alone would produce in the same letters.
Can I see the verse each letter comes from?
Yes. Every letter of every matrix opens its verse: tap it and the laboratory shows the verse in pointed Hebrew with that letter marked, the word it belongs to, the JPS 1917 English and the reference, with doors to the verse and its chapter.
Is the Torah codes search free?
Yes. Anyone can run a search and see a preview of it; a free account runs 7 code searches with every feature, and every search you've run stays open forever — run it again, page through every sequence, open it in the matrix. Premium Membership searches without limit.
Do I need to read Hebrew?
No. Type a name or a word in English and the search field lists its Hebrew spellings, each with its meaning; choose one and it is searched as written. If you know the Hebrew, type it directly.
What does Premium add?
Premium opens unlimited Torah code and gematria searches, the complete libraries and the Siddur, every full audio recording, and unlimited bookmarks and notes, on every device you use.
Are Bible codes and Torah codes the same thing?
They are two names for one method. "Bible code" is the phrase most people search, made common by a bestselling book in 1997; "Torah codes" is the name used in Jewish learning. Both mean equidistant letter sequences in the Hebrew text — here, the Leningrad Codex, letter for letter.
