זוהר, ויקרא מ׳Zohar, Vayikra 40

Segment 1א׳

וְאוֹקִימְנָא, נִשְׁמוֹת שֶׁל רְשָׁעִים הֵן הֵן הַמַּזִּיקִים בָּעוֹלָם. וְדִינָא דִּלְהוֹן אוּקְמוּהָ עָלַיְיהוּ מָארֵי דְּנִשְׁמָתְהוֹן מַתְנִיתִין, נִשְׂרֶפֶת וְנַעֲשֵׂית אֵפֶר תַּחַת כַּפּוֹת רַגְלֵי הַצַּדִּיקִים. וּבְמַאי אִתּוֹקְדוּן. בְּאֵשׁ דְּכוּרְסְיָא, דְּאִתְּמַר בֵּיהּ, (דניאל ז׳:ט׳) כּוֹרְסְיִיהּ שְׁבִיבִין דִּי נוּר גַּלְגִּלּוֹהִי נוּר דָּלִיק. (ונהר דינור נגיד ונפיק) מֵד' חֵיוָון דְּאֶשָּׁא, דְּסָחֲרִין לְכוּרְסְיָא דְּדִין, דְּאִיהוּ אֲדֹנָי, דִּינָא דְּמַלְכוּתָא דִּינָא.

And we have explained: the souls of the wicked, they are the demons in the world. And the Masters of the Mishnah have explained their judgement concerning them: their soul is burnt and becomes ashes under the soles of the feet of the righteous. And in what are they burnt? In the fire of the throne, of which it is said, “His throne was fiery flames, its wheels burning fire” (Dan. 7, 9); and the river of fire flows and issues from the four living creatures of fire that surround the throne of judgement, which is Adonai — the law of the kingdom is law.

Segment 2ב׳

והַהוּא נָהָר, אִתְּמַר בֵּיהּ, (דניאל ז׳:י׳) נָהָר דִּי נוּר נָגִיד וְנָפַק מִן קֳדָמוֹהִי. נִשְׁמָתְהוֹן דְּצַּדִּיקַיָּיא, טַבְלִין וּמִתְדְּכִין בֵּיהּ. וְנִשְׁמָתֵהוֹן דִּרְשִׁיעֵי, נִדוֹנִין בֵּיהּ, וְאִתְבְּעִירוּ קַמֵּיהּ, כְּקַּשׁ לְפָנַי אֵשׁ, וְהַיְינוּ אֵשׁ אוֹכֶלֶת אֵשׁ. יְהוִֹה אִיהִי חַמָה. נַרְתִּיקָהּ דִּילֵיהּ, אֲדֹנָי. לשמור והַיְינוּ רָזָא דְּאוּקְמוּהָ, לֶעָתִיד לָבֹא מוֹצִּיא הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא חַמָה מִנַּרְתִּיקָהּ צַּדִּיקִים מִתְרַפְּאִין בָּהּ, וּרְשָׁעִים נִדוֹנִין בָּהּ.

And of that river it is said, “A stream of fire issued and came forth from before Him” (Dan. 7, 10). The souls of the righteous bathe and are purified in it; and the souls of the wicked are judged in it and are kindled before Him like stubble before fire; and this is fire consuming fire. The Tetragrammaton is the sun; its sheath is Adonai. And this is the mystery they have explained: in the time to come the Holy One, blessed be He, brings the sun out of its sheath — the righteous are healed by it, and the wicked are judged by it.

Segment 3ג׳

וּמֵחֵיוון דְּכוּרְסְיָא דְּדִינָא, הֲוָה נָחִית אַרְיֵה דְּאֶשָּׁא לְמֵיכַל קָרְבְּנִין, אִינּוּן דִּמְמָנָן, עַל כָּל אֵבֶר דְּחָב מְחַבֵּל קַטֵיגוֹר אֶחָד, כְּמָה דְּאוֹקְמוּהָ, עָשָׂה עֲבֵירָה אַחַת, קָנָה לוֹ קַטֵיגוֹר א'. וּמִיַּד דְּנָחַת אֵשׁ שֶׁל גָּבוֹהַּ, וְאוֹקִיד לוֹן לְאִלֵּין אֵבָרִין וּפְדָרִין וְאֵמוּרִין דְּפָרִים וּכְבָשִׂים וְעַתּוּדִים ועִזִּים. יְהוָֹ"ה דְּנָחִית כְּאַרְיִה דְּאֶשָּׁא לְאוֹקְדָא לוֹן, אִתּוֹקְדוּן אֵבָרִים דִּלְהוֹן, אִתּוֹקְדוּן מְחַבְּלִים דִּמְמָנָן עָלַיְיהוּ, וּמִתְכַּפְּרִין חוֹבִין דְּיִשְׂרָאֵל, דְּאִינּוּן אֵבָרִים דִּשְׁכִינְתָּא.

And from the living creatures of the throne of judgement a lion of fire would come down to consume the offerings. Those that are appointed: over every limb that sinned, a destroyer, one accuser — as they have explained, he who commits one transgression acquires for himself one accuser. And as soon as the fire of the Most High came down and burned these limbs and fat pieces and sacrificial portions of bullocks and lambs and he-goats and she-goats — the Tetragrammaton, which came down like a lion of fire to burn them — their limbs were burnt, the destroyers appointed over them were burnt, and the sins of Israel were atoned for, who are the limbs of the Shekinah.
