Section 6 of 30 in Tzav — 2 segments
Segment 1
Ra'aya Meheimna. And further: “A fire shall be kept burning upon the altar continually,” etc. This is the Torah, of which it is stated, “Is not My word like fire? says the Lord” (Jer. 23, 29). “It shall not go out”, assuredly — for a transgression does not put out Torah. But a transgression does put out a commandment; and one who commits a transgression that puts out a commandment, which is a lamp, so does he put out his own lamp, of which it is stated, “The lamp of the Lord is the soul of man” (Prov. 20, 27), from his body. And this is the putting out: that the body is left in darkness. And so, one who removes the Shekinah from her place brings about (for all the world) a putting out and a darkness for that place. And the darkness is the transgression: “and a handmaid that is heir to her mistress” (Prov. 30, 23).
Segment 2
And the raising up of a commandment from the side of the ignorant: for them a transgression puts out the commandment, so that there is fulfilled in them, “and the wicked shall be put to silence in darkness” (I Sam. 2, 9). But for the masters of Torah there is never any putting out, through those who illumine her with many mysteries of the Torah — for light is called raz, mystery. And the commandments of the Torah that the Rabbis fulfil are Torah for them; night and day it shall not go out upon them, because they fulfil in her, “and you shall meditate in it day and night” (Josh. 1, 8).
