Segment 1א׳

וּבְחִבּוּרָא קַדְמָאָה, תְּלַת אִינּוּן דְּגַרְמִין בִּישׁ לְגַרְמַיְיהוּ. תְּרֵין בְּהַאי עָלְמָא, וְחַד בְּעָלְמָא אַחֲרָא, וְאִלֵּין אִינּוּן: מַאן דְּלָיִיט גַּרְמֵיהּ, דְּתָנֵינָן חַד מְמָנָא אִתְפְּקַד קַמֵּיהּ דְּבַּר נָשׁ, וּבְשַׁעֲתָא דְּלָיִיט גַּרְמֵיהּ הַהוּא בַּר נָשׁ, הַאי מְמָנָא, וְשִׁבְעִין אַחֲרָנִין דִּמְמָנָן תְּחוֹתֵיהּ, נַטְלִין הַהִיא מִלָּה, וְאַמְרֵי אָמֵן, וְסַלְקֵי לָהּ לְעֵילָּא, וְדַיְינִין לָהּ, וְאִיהוּ רָדִיף אֲבַּתְרֵיהּ, עַד דְּעָבִיד לֵיהּ, וְאַשְׁלִים לֵיהּ הַהוּא מִלָּה.

And in the first composition: three are they who bring evil upon themselves — two in this world, and one in the other world. And these are they: he who curses himself. For, as we have learnt, a certain chieftain is appointed before a man; and at the time that that man curses himself, this chieftain, and seventy others who are appointed under him, take up that word and say Amen, and raise it on high, and judge it; and he pursues after him until he has done it to him and fulfilled that word upon him.

Segment 2ב׳

מַאן לָךְ רַב מִמֹּשֶׁה, דְּאָמַר (שמות ל״ב:ל״ב) וְאִם אַיִן מְחֵנִי נָא מִסִּפְרְךָ אֲשֶׁר כָּתָבְתָּ, וְאָמַר לְצוֹרֶךְ, וְאַף עַל גַּב דְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא עָבִיד רְעוּתֵיהּ, עִם כָּל דָּא לָא אִשְׁתְּזִיב מֵעוֹנְשָׁא, וְהָא אִתְּמַר דְּלָא אִדְכַּר בְּפָרָשַׁת וְאַתָּה תְּצַוִּה, וְאִתְמְחֵי מִתַּמָּן. וְהָא אוֹקְמוּהָ. מַאן לָן רַב מִדָּוִד מַלְכָּא, דְּאָמַר (תהילים ל״ט:ב׳) אָמַרְתִּי אֶשְׁמְרָה דַּרְכֵי מֵחֲטוֹא בִלְשׁוֹנִי אֶשְׁמְרָה לְפִי מַחְסוֹם בְּעוֹד רָשָׁע לְנֶגְדִּי, מַאי בְּעוֹד רָשָׁע לְנֶגְדִּי. הַהוּא מְמָנָא דְּאִתְפְּקַד עַל דָּא, וְנָטִיל הַהִיא מִלָּה לְאַבְאָשָׁא לֵיהּ לְבַּר נָשׁ.

Whom have you greater than Moses, who said, “And if not, blot me, I pray You, out of Your book which You have written” (Ex. 32, 32)? And he said it for a need; and although the Holy One, blessed be He, did his will, for all that he was not saved from punishment. And it has been said that he is not mentioned in the portion “And you shall command” (Tetzaveh), and was blotted out from there; and this has been explained. Whom have we greater than King David, who said, “I said: I will take heed to my ways, that I may not sin with my tongue; I will keep a curb upon my mouth while the wicked is before me” (Ps. 39, 2)? What is “while the wicked is before me”? That chieftain who is charged with this, and takes up that word to do the man harm.

Segment 3ג׳

וְחַד מַאן דְּזָרִיק נָהֲמָא, אוֹ פִּירוּרִין דְּנַהֲמָא בְּאַרְעָא, וְקָא עָבִיד בֵּיהּ זִלְזוּלָא, כְּמָה דְּאִתְּמַר. הָנֵי תְּרֵי בְּהַאי עָלְמָא. וְחַד בְּהַהוּא עָלְמָא, מַאן דְּאוֹקִיד שְׁרָגָא בְּמוֹצָאֵי שַׁבָּת, עַד לָא מָטוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל לִקְדוּשָּׁא דְּסִדְרָא, בְּגִין דְּקָא מְחַלֵּל שַׁבְּתָּא, וְגָרִים לְנוּרָא דְּגֵיהִנָּם לְאִתּוֹקְדָא, עַד לָא מָטָא זִמְנֵיהּ.

And one: he who throws bread, or crumbs of bread, on the ground, and treats it with contempt, as has been said. These two are in this world. And one in that world: he who kindles a lamp at the going out of the Sabbath before Israel have reached the Sanctification of the Order (kedushah de-sidra); because he profanes the Sabbath, and causes the fire of Gehinnom to be kindled before its time has come.
