Segment 1

Ezekiel, when he saw the Shekinah from within the shells, saw with her ten sefirot, without any separation at all. And these are the kernel within; he saw them all from within the river Chebar below, which is “The chariots of God are myriads (ribbotayim)” (Ps. 68, 18). Every myriad is ten thousand; ribbotayim, twenty thousand. Take away two, “which are not” (she'einan), and eighteen remain, by the reckoning of the Life (chai) of the worlds, which comprises ten sefirot, which is clothed in the Teth-Teth of Metatron. The Teth-Teth of totafot, and of it is said, “and they shall be for frontlets (totafot) between your eyes” (Deut. 6, 8). What are the “eyes”? These are above, of which it is said, “the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God” (Ezek. 1, 1). What are the “visions”? These are the ten visions of Metatron, which he saw as a lamp within a lantern: nine revealed, and one hidden.

Segment 2

One vision, which is the first sight of these ten — this is the one of which it is said, “And above the firmament that was over their heads, as the appearance of a sapphire stone, the likeness of a throne” (Ezek. 1, 26). And although it has been explained above, one must bring forth new words upon it.

Segment 3

The Holy One, blessed be He, said to the camps above: Whoever prays — whether he be mighty, whether he be wise, whether he be rich: mighty in merits, wise in the Torah, and rich in the commandments — his prayer shall not enter this palace until you see on him these signs: that he has put My adornments upon himself. And therefore the sages of the Mishnah explained: “If the master is like an angel of the Lord of hosts, let them seek the Torah from his mouth.” Whoever is marked with these signs in his garment — accept his prayer. One sign is that he be marked in his prayer with blue (tekhelet), on the corners of the commandment of the fringes; for it resembles the firmament, which is Metatron. His image is the blue that is in the fringes.
