Section 44 of 129 in Pinchas — 4 segments
Segment 1
“The one lamb shall you offer in the morning, and the other lamb shall you offer at dusk.” This is the mystery of the kivshei (secrets) of the Merciful One, concerning which the Rabbis explained, of the secrets of the Merciful One: “What have you to do with them?” Rather, the matters that are among the hidden things (kivshonei) of the world shall be covered beneath your garment. Just as a garment covers the body, so too must one cover the mysteries of the Torah — how much more the mysteries of the offerings, which are like the drawing near of a wife to her husband.
Segment 2
And as the drawing near of the two of them must be in concealment, so too the offering must be concealed from the children of lewdness, the wicked and impudent, who have no shame of face and no humility. And how many kinds of bastards there are: children of forbidden unions, children of niddah — for the He has wandered (nad) from her, and there is found in her place the handmaid, the daughter of a strange god, the harlot. And this is the mystery: “For three things the earth quakes,” etc.: “for a servant when he reigns, and a churl when he is filled with food, and a handmaid that is heir to her mistress” (Prov. 30, 22). For the He has wandered from her place — she who is the Matrona, the good inclination — and there enters in her place the handmaid, the evil inclination.
Segment 3
And the mystery of the matter: “There seems to me to be as it were a plague in the house” (Lev. 14, 35) — that is, the unclean blood of niddah. And just as there, “and the priest shall shut him up seven days,” so too here, “she shall be in her impurity seven days” (Lev. 15, 19). (The passage from “And there is no leper” etc. as far as “to the Lord your God” is printed in the portion of Tzav, folio 33b.) Happy are the limbs that are sanctified at the time of intercourse, for they are the wood of the burnt-offering, to which holy fires are bound — the Name, the Tetragrammaton, which is bound to their fires. And therefore, “In the fires (ba-urim) glorify the Lord” (Isa. 24, 15). Therefore the kivshei of the Merciful One: that is, “The one lamb shall you offer in the morning, and the other lamb shall you offer at dusk.”
