Segment 1א׳

(ויקרא כ״ג:ל״ד) בַּחֲמִשָּׁה עָשָׂר יוֹם לַחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי וְגוֹ', דְּאִיהִי תִּשְׁרֵי, מִקְרָא קֹדֶשׁ יִהְיֶה לָכֶם כָּל מְלֶאכֶת עֲבוֹדָה לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ וְחַגּוֹתֶם אוֹתוֹ חַג לַיְיָ שִׁבְעַת יָמִים וְגוֹ'. בַּחֲמִשָּׁה עָשָׂר, מִסִּטְרָא דְּיָ"הּ. וְחַגּוֹתֶם אוֹתוֹ, דָּא אוֹת ו', עַמּוּדָא דְּאֶמְצָעִיתָא. (ח"ג חסד גבורה) שִׁבְעַת יָמִים, מִסִּטְרָא דְּבַת שֶׁבַע, דְּאִיהִי מַלְכוּת. אֲבָהָן, וְרַעְיָא מְהֵימָנָא, וְאַהֲרֹן, דָּוִד וּשְׁלֹמֹה, הָא אִינּוּן שֶׁבַע, לָקֳבֵל שֶׁבַע סְפִירָאן. אֲנָא בָּעֵינָא לְתַקְּנָא לְכוֹן סֻכָּה, דְּאִיהִי אִימָּא עִלָּאָה, לְסַכְּכָא עָלַיְיהוּ, כְּאִמָּא עַל בְּנִין.

“On the fifteenth day of the seventh month,” etc. (Lev. 23, 34) — which is Tishri — “it shall be a holy convocation to you; you shall do no manner of servile work; and you shall keep it a feast to the Lord seven days,” etc. “On the fifteenth”: from the side of Yod-He. “And you shall keep it (oto)”: this is the letter (ot) Vau, the Central Column. (a variant adds: Heth-Gimel, chesed and gevurah.) “Seven days”: from the side of Bath-sheba, who is malchut. The patriarchs, and the Faithful Shepherd, and Aaron, David and Solomon — behold, these are seven, corresponding to the seven sefirot. I wish to prepare for you a booth, which is the supernal Mother, to shelter over them like a mother over her children.

Segment 2ב׳

וּבְגִין ז' סְפִירָאן אָמַר קְרָא, (ויקרא כ״ג:מ״ג) כִּי בַסֻּכּוֹת הוֹשַׁבְתִּי אֶת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, בְּמַפְקָנוּתְהוֹן מֵאַרְעָא דְּמִצְרַיִם, בְּז' עֲנָנֵי כָּבוֹד. סוּכָּה (אית באת ו', בסוכות חסר ו', דאתמר בה בסכת תשבו שבעת ימים, איהי אימא אבל סוכה) בְּאָת ו', אִיהוּ בְּרָזָא (דתיבין) דִּתְרֵין בְּנִין, יְדוָֹד אֲדֹנָי. וְהָכִי סָלִיק סוּכָּ"ה בְּחוּשְׁבַּן יְאֲהדוָֹנָהי. תְּרֵין כְּרוּבִים, דְּהֵם (שמות כ״ה:כ׳) סוֹכְכִים בְּכַנְפֵיהֶם עַל הַכַּפּוֹרֶת וּפְנֵיהֶם אִישׁ אֶל אָחִיו.

And on account of the seven sefirot the verse said, “that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths” (Lev. 23, 43), at their going forth from the land of Egypt — in seven clouds of glory. Sukkah (booth) (a variant adds: is found with the letter Vau; in ba-sukkot the Vau is lacking, of which it is said, “You shall dwell in booths seven days” — she is the Mother; but sukkah) with the letter Vau is in the mystery (a variant adds: of the words) of two children, the Tetragrammaton and Adonai. And so sukkah amounts to the reckoning of Yod-Aleph-He-Daleth-Vau-Nun-He-Yod. Two cherubim, which are “screening the mercy seat with their wings, with their faces one to another” (Ex. 25, 20).

Segment 3ג׳

וְאִית עַשְׂרָה טְפָחִים בַּכְּרוּבִים מִתַּתָּא לְעֵילָּא, מֵרַגְלֵיהוֹן עַד רֵישֵׁיהוֹן, וּמֵרֵישֵׁיהוֹן וְעַד רַגְלֵיהוֹן, וְשַׁרְיָין עַל טֶפַח דְּאִיהוּ י'. וְעַשְׂרָה עַשְׂרָה מֵעֵילָּא לְתַתָּא, וּמִתַּתָּא לְעֵילָּא, הַיְינוּ יוֹ"ד. וּבְגִין כָּךְ, שִׁיעוּרָא דְּסֻּכָּה אָמְרוּ רַבָּנָן, לֹא פָּחוּת מֵעֲשָׂרָה, וְלֹא לְמַעְלָה מֵעֶשְׂרִים. סֻכָּה הַעֲשׂוּיָה כְּכִבְשָׁן מִסִּטְרָא דְּאִימָּא, עָלָהּ אִתְּמַר, (שמות י״ט:י״ח) וְהַר סִינַי עָשָׁן כֻּלּוֹ מִפְּנֵי אֲשֶׁר יָרַד עָלָיו יְיָ בָּאֵשׁ וַיַּעַל עֲשָׁנוֹ כְּעֶשֶׁן הַכִּבְשָׁן. (ואוקמוה מאי (יחזקאל א׳:י״ד) והחיות רצוא ושוב, כאור היוצא מפי הכבשן) וְכֹלָּא חַד.

And there are ten handbreadths in the cherubim from below upward, from their feet to their heads, and from their heads to their feet; and they rest upon a handbreadth, which is Yod. And ten and ten, from above downward and from below upward: that is Yod-Vau-Daleth. And therefore the Rabbis said of the measure of the booth: not less than ten, and not higher than twenty. A booth made like a furnace is from the side of the Mother; of her it is said, “Now mount Sinai was altogether on smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire; and its smoke ascended as the smoke of a furnace” (Ex. 19, 18). (a variant adds: And they have explained: what is “And the Hayyoth ran and returned” (Ezek. 1, 14)? Like the light that goes forth from the mouth of the furnace.) And all is one.
