Segment 1א׳

וּכְדֵין מָשִׁיךְ קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, מְשִׁיכוּ דְּשֶׁבַע דַּרְגִּין לְתַתָּא, בְּהַהוּא דַּרְגָּא דְּאִתְאֲחָד בְּהוּ, בְּאִינּוּן שֶׁבַע שַׁבָּתוֹת. (ס"א באינון שבע שבתות. וכדין משיך קודשא בריך הוא, משיכו דשבע דרגין דלעילא, בההוא דרגא לתתא דאתאחד באינון שבע שבתות). וְאִי תֵֹּימָֹא, וְהָא שִׁיתָּא אִינּוּן וְלָא יַתִּיר. אֶלָּא כְּדֵין אִימָּא יָתְבָא עַל אֶפְרוֹחִין, וְאִשְׁתְּכָחַת רְבִיעָא עָלַיְיהוּ. וַאֲנָן מְפַרְחִין לָהּ, וְנַטְלִין אִינּוּן שִׁית בְּנִין. בְּהַאי דַּרְגָּא דִּלְתַתָּא, לְקַיְּימָא דִּכְתִּיב, (דברים כ״ב:ז׳) שַׁלֵּח תְּשַׁלַּח אֶת הָאֵם וְאֶת הַבָּנִים וְגוֹ'.

And then the Holy One, blessed be He, draws down a drawing-forth of seven grades below, into that grade which is united with them, in those seven Sabbaths. (a variant reads: in those seven Sabbaths. And then the Holy One, blessed be He, draws down a drawing-forth of seven grades from above, into that grade below which is united with those seven Sabbaths.) And if you say: But they are six, and no more! Rather, at that time the Mother sits upon the young ones, and is found sitting upon them; and we make her fly off, and take those six young, in this grade below, to fulfil what is written, “You shall surely let the mother go, and the young,” etc. (Deut. 22, 7).
