Segment 1
The Palace of Zechut — gevurah (severity). The fourth palace. This is the palace on account of which the Holy One, blessed be He, makes His dominion known on earth. And this is the palace that stands to keep the ways of the Torah. This palace is called the palace of Zechut, in which all the judgements of the world are judged, and all merits, and all sins, and all punishments, and all good reward, for those who keep the commandments of the Torah.
Segment 2
This palace of Zechut differs from all the other palaces; and in this palace four palaces are comprised, differing one from another, and they are all one palace. In this palace there is one spirit that is called Zechut El. And this palace is called after its name, Zechut; and this is El. And here all the judgements of the world are judged. And this is the mystery of what is written, “and El has indignation every day” (Ps. 7).
Segment 3
Four palaces — these four that are within this palace, this one within that; they are all comprised one within another, and they are all one palace, and it is called Zechut. These four palaces have doors. One supernal chieftain stands outside, at the first door of this palace; Sansaniah is his name. And after this name there is another chieftain on the other side, on the left, who takes judgements in that palace of his, to rouse them to act in the world. And because he takes from him, he is called after his name, Sansaniah. And he has power over that croup of children.
