Segment 1
And in you was fulfilled the precept which is a commandment upon Israel, to set a king over them. This is what is written, “You shall surely set a king over you” (Deut. 17, 15). And there was fulfilled in you, “And there was a king in Jeshurun” (Deut. 33, 5), as at the first. And they are all led after you, like the limbs that are all led by the movement of the soul, which spreads through every limb. For you shall be crowned with the supernal keter, in which the Cause of causes is a crown over all, hidden and concealed within it. And from it He spreads over all the sefirot, and sets them in order, that this one should be great, and this one small, and this one middling; and He guides them to His will, and shines in them, and binds them, and unites them.
Segment 2
So shall you lead Israel, in all His good attributes; and you shall set each one in order as befits him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the younger according to his youth, and the middling according to his grade. And you shall bind them in one bond towards their Father in heaven, that they may all be of a pure language, to bless the Holy One, blessed be He, and to sanctify Him and unite Him, in your grade, in your thought, in your emanation; for there was fulfilled in you, “And I will take of the spirit which is upon you, and will put it upon them” (Num. 11, 17). Rise, rouse yourself in the precept to cut off the seed of Amalek. (Ki Teitzei, folio 281b, belongs to Naso, folio 145a.)
Segment 3
“Every man shall fear his mother and his father,” and so forth (Lev. 19, 3). This precept is to honour father and mother: that a man must fear his father and his mother, and honour them. Just as a man must honour the Holy One, blessed be He, from the side of the spirit which He has placed within him, and must fear Him, so must he honour his father and his mother from the side of his own body, and fear them; for they are partners with the Holy One, blessed be He, and they make his body. And since they are partners in the deed, let them be partners in fear and in honour.
