Segment 1א׳

בְּאִלֵּין תַּקְרוֹבִין דְּבוּסְמָא, שַׁארִי דִּיקְנָא לְאִתְחֲזָאָה, מֵרֵישָׁא דְּאוּדְנִין, וְנָחִית וְסַלִיק בְּתַקְרוֹבָא דְּבוּסְמָא, שַׂעֲרִין אוּכָמִין דְּדִיקְנָא, בְּתִקּוּנָא יָאֶה שַׁפִּיר. כְּגִיבָּר תַּקִּיף, שַׁפִּיר. מִשְׁחָא דִּרְבוּת דְּדִיקְנָא עִלָּאָה דְּעַתִּיקָא, בְּהַאי דִּיקְנָא דִּזְעֵיר אַנְפִין אִתְחֲזֵי, וְנָהִיר.

In these offerings of spice the beard begins to be seen, from the top of the ears; and it descends and rises in the offering of spice — black hairs of the beard, in a fitting and beautiful adornment, like a mighty man, beautiful. The oil of anointing of the supernal beard of the Ancient One is seen in this beard of the Small of Countenance, and it shines.

Segment 2ב׳

שַׁפִּירוּ דְּהַאי דִּיקְנָא, בְּט' תִּקּוּנִין אִשְׁתְּכַח. וְכַד מִשְׁחָא דִּרְבוּת, דִּתְלַת עֲשַׂר נְבִיעִין דְּדִיקְנָא דְּעַתִּיקָא קַדִישָׁא נָהִיר בְּהַאי דִּיקְנָא, אִשְׁתְּכָחוּ כ"ב תִּקּוּנִין. וּכְדֵין מִתְבָּרְכִין כֻּלְּהוּ. וְיִשְׂרָאֵל סָבָא מִתְבָּרְכָא בְּהַאי, וְסִימָן, (בראשית מ״ח:כ׳) בְּךָ יְבָרֵךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל. כָּל תִּקּוּנִין דְּדִיקְנָא דָּא, אוֹקִימְנָא בְּאִדָרָא קַדִישָׁא, דְּכֻלְּהוּ מִתִיקּוּנִין דְּעַתִּיקָא קַדִישָׁא אִתְּקָנוּ. וְהָכָא בָּעֵינָא לְגַלָּאָה, מַה דְּלָא אִתְגְּלֵי תַּמָּן, בְּגִין לְמֵיעַל בְּלָא כִּסּוּפָא. (הא כל תקונין דדיקנא אוקימנא דכלהו מתיקונין דדיקנא (דעתיקא) עתיקא קדישא אוקימנא באדרא קדישא)

The beauty of this beard is found in nine adornments. And when the oil of anointing, of the thirteen springs of the beard of the Holy Ancient One, shines in this beard, twenty-two adornments are found; and then all of them are blessed. And Israel the Elder is blessed by this; and the sign is, “By you shall Israel bless” (Gen. 48, 20). All the adornments of this beard we have explained in the Holy Assembly, that all of them are set in order from the adornments of the Holy Ancient One. And here I wish to reveal what was not revealed there, in order to enter without shame. (a variant adds: Behold, all the adornments of the beard we have explained, that all of them are from the adornments of the beard (a variant reads: of the Ancient One) of the Holy Ancient One; we have explained it in the Holy Assembly.)

Segment 3ג׳

שִׁיתָא אִינּוּן, ט' אִקְרוּן. תִּקּוּנָא קַדְמָאָה, נָפַק הַהוּא נִיצוֹצָא בּוּצִינָא דְּקַרְדִינוּתָא, וּבָטַשׁ בִּתְחוֹת שַׂעֲרָא דְּרֵישָׁא, מִתְּחוֹת קוֹצִין דְּעַל אוּדְנִין, וְנָחִית מִקַּמֵּי פִּתְחָא דְּאוּדְנִין עַד רֵישָׁא דְּפוּמָא. הָא תִּקּוּנָא דָּא מֵעַתִּיקָא קַדִישָׁא לָא אִשְׁתְּכַח, אֶלָּא כַּד נָגִיד מַזָּלָא דְּעַתִּיקָא קַדִישָׁא, וְתַלְיָיא מִנֵּיהּ הַהוּא מַבּוּעָא דְּחָכְמְתָא (חסר), כַּד אִימָּא אִתְמַשְּׁכָא וְאִתְכְּלִילַת בַּאֲוִירָא דַּכְיָא, הַהוּא חִוָּורָא נָקִיט אִימָּא (חסר), וְנִיצוֹצָא עָאלַת וְנַפְקַת, וְאִתְאֲחָד דָּא בְּדָא, וְאִתְעָבִידַת חַד תִּקּוּנָא.

They are six; they are called nine. The first adornment: that spark goes forth, butzina de-kardinuta, and strikes beneath the hair of the head, from beneath the locks that are over the ears, and descends before the opening of the ears down to the corner of the mouth. Behold, this adornment is not found from the Holy Ancient One, save when the mazzal of the Holy Ancient One flows, and from it hangs that spring of chochmah (Wanting.), when the Mother is drawn out and comprised in the pure air; that white the Mother takes (Wanting.), and the spark entered and went out, and they were joined one with another, and one adornment was made.

Segment 4ד׳

וְכַד אִצְטְרִיךְ סַלְּקָא דָּא עַל דָּא, וְאִתְכַּסְּיָא חַד מִקַּמֵּי חֲדָא. וּבְגִין כָּךְ כֹּלָּא אִצְטְרִיךְ, חַד לְמֶעְבַּד נוּקְמִין. וְחַד לְרַחֲמָא. וְעַל הַאי תָּאִיב לְהַאי דִּיקְנָא דָּוִד מַלְכָּא, כְּמָה דְּאוֹקִימְנָא.

And when it is needed, this one rises over that, and one is covered before the other. And therefore all is needed: one to execute vengeance, and one to have mercy. And for this King David longed for this beard, as we have explained.

Segment 5ה׳

בְּהַאי דִּיקְנָא ט' תִּקּוּנִין אִשְׁתְּכָחוּ, שִׁיתָא רִבְוָון דְּתַלְיָין בְּהוּ, וּמִתְפַּשְּׁטִין בְּכָל גּוּפָא. וְאִלֵּין שִׁיתָּא דְּתַלְיָין, תַּלְיָין בְּשַׂעֲרֵי דִּתְחוֹת תַּקְרוּבָא דְּבוּסְמִין. תְּלַת מֵהַאי סִטְרָא, וּתְלַת מֵהַאי סִטְרָא. וּבְיָקִירוּתָא דְּדִיקְנָא, תַּלְיָין תְּלַת אַחֲרָנִין. חַד לְעֵילָּא בְּשִׂפְוָון, וּתְרֵין בְּאִינּוּן שַׂעֲרִין דְּתַלְיָין עַד טַבּוּרָא. וְכָל הָנֵי שִׁיתָּא, ג' מִכָּאן וְג' מִכָּאן, אִתְמַשְּׁכָן וְתַלְיָין כֻּלְּהוֹן, בְּאִינּוּן שַׂעְרֵי דְּתַלְיָין וּמִתְפָּשְּׁטִין בְּכָל גּוּפָא.

In this beard nine adornments are found: six myriads that hang in them and spread through the whole body. And these six that hang, hang in the hairs that are beneath the offering of spices — three on this side and three on that side. And in the preciousness of the beard hang three others: one above, on the lips, and two in those hairs that hang down to the navel. And all these six, three from here and three from here, are drawn out, and all of them hang in those hairs that hang and spread through the whole body.
