וְהַהוּא רֵישָׁא סְתִימָא דִּבְרֵישָׁא דְּעַתִּיקָא דְּלָא אִתְיְדַע, כַּד פָּשִׁיט חַד טוּרְנָא (ס"א גוונא), דְּהֲוָה מִתְתַּקָּן לְאִתְנַהֲרָא, בָּטַשׁ בְּהַאי מוֹחָא (נ"א מצחא), וְאִתְגְּלַף, וְאִתְנְהִיר בְּכַמָּה נְהִירִין, וְאַפִּיק וְאַרְשִׁים כְּבוֹסִיטָא דָּא, בְּהַאי מִצְחָא. וְאִתְרְשִׁים בֵּיהּ חַד נְהוֹרָא, דְּאִקְרֵי רָצוֹן. וְהַאי רָצוֹן אִתְפְּשַׁט לְתַתָּא בְּדִיקְנָא, עַד הַהוּא אֲתָר דְּמִתְיַשְּׁבָא בְּדִיקְנָא, וְאִקְרֵי חֶסֶד עִלָּאָה. וְדָא אִיהוּ נוֹצֵר חֶסֶד. וּבְהַאי רָצוֹן כַּד אִתְגַּלְיָיא, מִסְתַּכְּלִין מָארֵי דְּדִינָא וּמִתְכַּפְיָין.

And that hidden head which is in the head of the Ancient One, which is not known — when it stretched out one turna (a variant reads: colour), which was being set in order to shine, it struck upon this brain (a variant reads: forehead), and it was engraved, and shone with many lights, and brought forth and inscribed, like this splendour, upon this forehead. And one light was inscribed in it, which is called Favour. And this Favour spreads downward into the beard, as far as that place where it is settled in the beard, and it is called supernal chesed (lovingkindness). And this is “keeping chesed”. And by this Favour, when it is revealed, the lords of judgement look, and are subdued.
