Segment 1א׳

וְתָאנָא בִּצְנִיעוּתָא דְּסִפְרָא, אִתְפָּשַׁט דְּכוּרָא וְאִתְתָּקַּן בְּתִקּוּנוֹי. אִתְתָּקַּן תִּקּוּנָא דִּכְסוּתָא דַּכְיָא. וְהָאַי הַוְיָא אַמָּה דַּכְיָא. אָרְכֵיהּ דְּהַהוּא אַמָּה, מָאתָן וְאַרְבְּעִין וּתְמַנְיָא עָלְמִין. וְכֻלְּהוּ תַּלְיָין בְּפוּמָא דְּאַמָּה, דְּאִתְקְרֵי יוֹ"ד. וְכֵיוָן דְּאִתְגַּלְיָיא יוֹ"ד פּוּמֵיהּ דְּאַמָּה, אִתְגְּלֵי חֶסֶד עִלָּאָה. וְהַאי אַמָּה חֶסֶד הוּא דְּאִתְקְרֵי, וְתָלֵי (נ"א והאי חסד הוא תלי) בְּהַאי פּוּם אַמָּה. וְלָא אִקְרֵי חֶסֶד, עַד דְּאִתְגַּלְיָיא יוֹ"ד דְּפוּם אַמָּה.

And it has been taught in the Book of the Hidden Mystery: the male spread out and was set in order in His adornments. The adornment of the pure covering was set in order, and this is the pure member. The length of that member is two hundred and forty-eight worlds, and all of them hang in the mouth of the member, which is called Yod. And once the Yod of the mouth of the member is revealed, supernal chesed is revealed. And this member is what is called chesed, and it hangs (a variant reads: and this chesed hangs) on this mouth of the member. And it is not called chesed until the Yod of the mouth of the member is revealed.

Segment 2ב׳

וְתָּא חֲזֵי, דְּלָא אִתְקְרֵי אַבְרָהָם שְׁלִים בְּהַאי חֶסֶד, עַד דְּאִתְגַּלְיָיא יוֹ"ד דְּאַמָּה. וְכֵיוָן דְּאִתְגְּלֵי אִקְרֵי שְׁלִים, הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב, (בראשית י״ז:א׳) הִתְהַלֵּךְ לְפָנַי וְהְיֵה תָמִים, תָמִים מַמָּשׁ. וּכְתִיב (שמואל ב כ״ב:כ״ד) וָאֶהְיֶה תָמִים לוֹ וָאֶשְׁתַּמְּרָה מֵעֲוֹנִי. מַאי קָא מַיְירֵי, רֵישָׁא וְסֵיפָא. אֶלָּא כָּל דְּגַלֵּי הַאי יוֹ"ד, וְאִסְתְּמַר דְּלָא עַיְילֵיהּ לְיוֹ"ד בִּרְשׁוּתָא אַחֲרָא. לִיהֱוִי שְׁלִים לְעָלְמָא דְּאָתֵי, וְלֶהֱוִי צָרִיר בִּצְרוֹרָא דְּחַיֵּי. מַאי בִּרְשׁוּתָא אַחֲרָא. דִּכְתִּיב, (מלאכי ב׳:י״א) וּבָעַל בַּת אֵל נֵכָר. וּבְגִין כַּךְ כְּתִיב, וָאֶהְיֶה תָמִים לוֹ, דְּכֵיוָן דְּהוּא תָּמִים בְּגִלּוּיָיא דְּיוֹ"ד, וָאֶשְׁתַּמְּרָה מֵעֲוֹנִי.

And observe: Abraham was not called whole in this chesed until the Yod of the member was revealed; and once it was revealed he was called whole. This is what is written: “Walk before Me, and be whole” (Gen. 17, 1) — whole indeed. And it is written: “And I was whole toward Him, and I kept myself from my iniquity” (II Sam. 22, 24). What is it speaking of — the beginning and the end? Rather, whoever reveals this Yod and guards himself not to bring the Yod into another domain shall be whole for the world to come, and shall be bound up in the bundle of life. What is 'another domain'? As it is written: “and has married the daughter of a strange god” (Mal. 2, 11). And therefore it is written, “And I was whole toward Him”: for once he is whole in the revealing of the Yod, “I kept myself from my iniquity.”

וְכֵיוָן דְּאִתְפְּשַׁט אַמָּה דָּא, אִתְפְּשָׁט סְטָר גְּבוּרָה מֵאִינּוּן גְּבוּרָאן (בשמאלא) דְּנוּקְבָּא, וְאִשְׁתְּקַע בְּנוּקְבָּא בַּאֲתָר חַד, וְאַרְשִׁם בְּעֶרְיָיתָא, כְּסוּתָהּ דְּכָל גּוּפָא דְּנוּקְבָּא. וּבְהַהוּא אֲתָר אִקְרֵי עֶרְוָה דְּכֹלָא. אֲתָר לְאַצְנְעָא לְהַהוּא אַמָּה, דְּאִקְרֵי חֶסֶד. בְּגִין לְאִתְבַּסְּמָא גְּבוּרָה דָּא דְּכָלִיל חָמֵשׁ גְּבוּרָאן, בְּהַאי חֶסֶד דְּכָלִיל בְּחָמֵשׁ חֲסָדִין. חֶסֶד יְמִינָא, גְּבוּרָא שְׂמָאלָא. אִתְבְּסָם דָּא בְּדָא, וְאִקְרֵי אָדָם, כָּלִיל מִתְּרֵין סִטְרִין. וּבְגִין כַּךְ, בְּכֻלְּהוּ כִּתְרִין אִית יְמִינָא וּשְׂמָאלָא, דִּינָא וְרַחֲמֵי.

And once this member spread out, the side of gevurah spread out from those powers (a variant adds: on the left) of the female, and sank into the female in one place, and made its mark in the nakedness, the covering of the whole body of the female. And in that place it is called the nakedness of all: a place to conceal that member which is called chesed, so that this gevurah, which includes five powers, may be sweetened by this chesed, which includes five chasadim. Chesed is the right, gevurah the left; this was sweetened by that, and it is called Adam, included of two sides. And therefore in all the crowns there are right and left, judgement and mercy.
