The Zohar · Idra Rabba
Zohar, Idra Rabba 40
Section 40 of 52 in Idra Rabba — 2 segments
Segment 1
The ninth adornment: that the hairs are drawn (a variant reads: are joined) in full balance with those hairs that hang, all of them in a fair balance, like a mighty warrior, a master of victorious battles. For all the hairs are drawn after those that hang, and the sum of them all is in those that hang. And all is drawn (Here something is missing.) And of this it is written, “The tiferet of young men (bachurim) is their strength” (Prov. 20, 29). (a variant adds: and He appeared at the sea like a goodly young man; this is what is written.) It is written, “excellent (bachur) as the cedars” (S. S. 5, 15) — like a mighty man who performs mighty deeds. And this is tiferet: strength, and might, and mercy.
Segment 2
It has been taught: R. Simeon said: All these adornments and all these words I wish to reveal to those who are masters of them, who have been weighed in the balance; and not to those who have not entered (a variant reads: who entered and did not come out), but to those who have entered and come out. For whoever enters and does not come out, it were better for him that he had not been created.
