Zohar, Idra Rabba 4

Section 4 of 52 in Idra Rabba — 5 segments

Segment 1

In the skull (a variant adds: every day) dwell thirteen (a variant reads: twelve) thousand myriads of worlds, which rest their feet upon it and lean upon it. And from this skull dew drips to that one who is outside, and fills His head every day, as it is written, “for my head is filled with dew” (S. S. 5, 2).

Segment 2

And from that dew which He shakes from His head — that one who is outside — the dead will be awakened in the world to come, as it is written (a variant adds: “for my head is filled with dew” — it is not written “I am filled with dew,” but “is filled”), as it is written, “For your dew is as the dew of light” (Isa. 26, 19). “Light”: the light of the whiteness of the Ancient One. And from that dew the supernal holy ones are sustained. And it is (folio 292) the manna that they grind for the righteous in the world to come. And that dew drips upon the field of holy apples. This is what is written, “And when the layer of dew had gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness a fine, scale-like thing” (Ex. 16, 14). And the appearance of that dew is white, like stones (folio 49) of bdellium, in which all colours are seen. This is what is written, “and its appearance as the appearance of bdellium” (Num. 11, 7).

Segment 3

This skull: its whiteness shines to thirteen (folio 288) directions engraved round about it — to four directions on one side; and to four directions on this side, on the side of His face; and to four directions on this side, toward the side of the back; and one above the skull (a variant adds: that is to say, toward the side above).
