Segment 1א׳

תִּקּוּנָא דִּתְרֵיסָר. דְּלָא תַּלְיָין שַׂעְרֵי עַל פּוּמָא, וּפוּמָא אִתְפְּנֵי מִכָּל סִטְרִין, וְיָאִין שַׂעְרֵי סְחוֹר סְחוֹר לֵיהּ, בְּגִין דְּלָא אִשְׁתְּכַח טַרְחוּתָא, כְּמָה דְּאִצְטְרִיךְ.

The twelfth adornment: that the hairs do not hang over the mouth, and the mouth is cleared on all its sides, and the hairs are fair round about it, so that no trouble is found, as is needed.

Segment 2ב׳

טַרְחוּתָא בְּמַאי קָא מַיְירֵי. דִּינָא. בַּאֲתָר (נ"א בתר) דִּינָא טַרְחוּתָא אִשְׁתְּכַח. וְכִי שַׂעְרֵי דְּדִיקְנָא טִרְחָא אִינּוּן, אוֹ דִּינָא אִינּוּן, וְהָא כֹּלָּא רַחֲמֵי אִתְחָזוּן. אֶלָּא דְּלָא אִתְטְרַח בְּיִשּׁוּבָא (ס"א בנשובא) דְּרוּחָא דִּזְעֵיר אַפִּין.

Trouble — of what does it speak? Judgement. In the place (a variant reads: after) of judgement, trouble is found. But are the hairs of the beard trouble, or are they judgement? Surely all of them are seen as mercy! Rather, so that there be no trouble in the settling (a variant reads: in the blowing) of the spirit of the Small of Countenance.

Segment 3ג׳

דְּתָאנָא מֵהַאי פּוּמָא קַדִּישָׁא עִלָּאָה, קֹדֶשׁ קֳדָשִׁים, נָשְׁבָא רוּחָא. מַאי רוּחָא. רוּחָא דְּאִיתְּרַק (ס"א דאתדבק) בֵּיהּ, דְּמִתְלְבַּש בֵּיהּ (נ"א דאתתקן ומתלבש ביה) זְעֵיר אַפִּין. וּמֵהַאי רוּחָא מִתְלַבְּשִׁין כָּל אִינּוּן דִּלְתַּתָּא. וְכַד הַהוּא רוּחָא נָפִיק, אִתְפְּרַשׁ לִתְלָּתִין וְשִׁבְעָה אֶלֶף עִיבָר. וְאִתְפָּשַּׁט (ס"א ואתפרשא) כָּל חַד בִּלְחוֹדוֹי לְאַתְרֵיהּ, וְכָל מַאן דְּאִתְחֲזֵי לְאִתְלַבְּשָׁא מִנֵּיהּ אִתְלָבַּשׁ. וְעַל דָּא שַׂעֲרִין לָא אִשְׁתְּכָחוּ עַל פּוּמָא קַדִּישָׁא, מִשּׁוּם דְּרוּחֵיהּ נָפִיק, וְלָא בָּעֵי מִלָּה אַחֲרָא לְאִתְעָרְבָא בֵּיהּ, וּלְקָרְבָא בַּהֲדֵיהּ.

For it has been taught: from this holy supernal mouth, the holy of holies, a spirit blows. What spirit? The spirit that is poured out (a variant reads: that cleaves) upon it, with which the Small of Countenance is clothed (a variant reads: which is set in order and clothed in it). And from this spirit all those below are clothed. And when that spirit goes forth, it is divided into thirty-seven thousand directions, and each one spreads out (a variant reads: and is divided) by itself to its own place; and whoever is fit to be clothed from it is clothed. And therefore hairs are not found upon the holy mouth, because His spirit goes forth, and it needs nothing else to mingle with it or to draw near to it.

Segment 4ד׳

וְדָא הוּא טְמִירוּתָא דְּכֹלָּא, דְּלָא אִתְדְּבַק לָא לְעֵילָּא וְלָא לְתַתָּא. וְהוּא סָתִים בִּסְתִּימָא דִּסְתִּימִין דְּלָא אִתְיְדַע. דָּא הוּא דְּלָא אִתְתָּקַּן, וְלָא הֲוָה בֵּיהּ תִּקּוּנָא. וּבְגִין כַּךְ, רוּחַ דְּנָפִיק לְבַר (ס"א דנפיק מההוא דלבר), וּמִתְלַבְּשִׁין בֵּיהּ נְבִיאֵי מְהֵימְנֵי, אִתְקְרֵי פֶּה יְיָ. אֲבָל בְּהַאי עַתִּיקָא דְּעַתִּיקִין לָא אִתְפְּרַשׁ. וְלֵית מַאן דְּיֵדַע רוּחֵיהּ בַּר אִיהוּ. וּבְגִין כַּךְ שַׂעֲרוֹי שְׁקִילִין סוּחֲרָנֵא דְּפוּמָא, וּפוּמָא אִתְפְּנֵי מִכָּל סִטְרוֹי.

And this is the hiddenness of all, which cleaves neither above nor below. And He is concealed in the concealment of the concealed, which is not known. This is that which was not set in order, and there was no adornment in it. And therefore the spirit that goes forth outside (a variant reads: that goes forth from that which is outside), in which faithful prophets are clothed, is called “the mouth of the Lord”. But in this one, the Ancient of Ancients, it is not disclosed, and there is none who knows His spirit but He. And therefore His hair is balanced round about the mouth, and the mouth is cleared on all its sides.

Segment 5ה׳

וּבְהַאי אִתְרְחִיצוּ אֲבְהֲתָנָא, לְאִתְלַבְּשָׁא בְּהַאי רוּחָא, דְּמִתְפָּשַׁט לְכַמָּה עִיבָרִין, בַּאֲתָר דְּכָל שַׂעְרֵי שְׁקִילִין בְּסוֹחֲרָנוֹי. (הדא הוא דכתיב, (מיכה ז׳:כ׳) אשר נשבעת לאבותינו). וְדָא הוּא תִּקּוּנָא קַדִּישָׁא עִלָּאָה דִּתְרֵיסָר. דְּמִכָּאן אִשְתֶּלְשָׁלוּ י"ב תְּחוּמִין לְעֵילָּא. י"ב תְּחוּמִין לְתַתָּא. י"ב תְּחוּמִין לי"ב שִׁבְטֵי אֲבָהָתָא. הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּעְתָּ לַאֲבוֹתֵינוּ.

And in this our fathers trusted, to be clothed in this spirit, which spreads out into many directions, in the place where all the hairs are balanced round about it. (a variant adds: This is what is written: “as You have sworn to our fathers” (Micah 7, 20).) And this is the holy supernal twelfth adornment; for from here twelve boundaries descend above, twelve boundaries below, twelve boundaries for the twelve tribes of the fathers. This is what is written: “as You have sworn to our fathers”.
