זוהר, אמור ה׳Zohar, Emor 5

Segment 1א׳

(ויקרא כ״א:ג׳) וְלַאֲחוֹתוֹ הַבְּתוּלָה הַקְּרוֹבָה אֵלָיו וְגוֹ'. מַה כְּתִיב לְעֵילָּא, כִּי אִם לִשְׁאֵרוֹ הַקָּרוֹב אֵלָיו וְגוֹ'. רִבִּי אַבָּא פָּתַח, (ישעיהו ס״ג:א׳) מִי זֶה בָּא מֵאֱדוֹם חֲמוּץ בְּגָדִים מִבָּצְרָה וְגוֹ', מִי זֶה בָּא מֵאֱדוֹם, זַמִּין קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא לְלַבְשָׁא לְבוּשֵׁי נוּקְמָא עַל אֱדוֹם, דְּאַחֲרִיבוּ בֵּיתֵיהּ, וְאוֹקִידוּ הֵיכָלֵיהּ, וְגָלוּ לִכְנֶסֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל בֵּינֵי עַמְמַיָא. וּלְמֶעְבַד לְהוֹן נִקְמַת עָלְמִין, עַד דְּיִשְׁתַּכְחוּן כָּל טוּרִין מִטוּרֵי עָלְמָא, מַלְיָין מִקָטוּלֵי עַמִּין, וּלְמִקְרֵי לְכָל עוֹפָא דִּשְׁמַיָּא עָלַיְיהוּ, וְכָל חֵיוַות בָּרָא יִתְזְנוּן מִנַּיְיהוּ תְּרֵיסָר יַרְחֵי, וְעוֹפָא דִּשְׁמַיָּא שֶׁבַע שְׁנִין, עַד דְּלָא תִּסְבַּל אַרְעָא נִיוּוּלָא דִּידְהוּ. הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב, (ישעיהו ל״ד:ו׳) כִּי זֶבַח לַיְיָ' בְּבָצְרָה וְטֶבַח גָּדוֹל בְּאֶרֶץ אֱדוֹם, עַד דְּאִינּוּן לְבוּשִׁין יִסְתַּאֲבוּן, הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב, (ישעיהו ס״ג:ג׳) וְכָל מַלְבּוּשַׁי אֶגְאָלְתִּי.

AND FOR HIS SISTER A VIRGIN THAT IS NEAR UNTO HIM. R. Abba quoted here the verse: “Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah?” (Isa. 63, 1). ‘God’, he said, ‘will one day put on garments of vengeance to chastise Edom for having destroyed His house and burnt His Temple and driven the Community of Israel into exile among the nations. He will wreak vengeance on them until all the mountains are full of the slain of the nations, when he will summon all birds of the air and the beasts of the field and they shall feast on them, the beasts twelve months and the birds seven years, and the earth shall not bear the stench thereof.

Segment 2ב׳

חֲמוּץ בְּגָדִים מִבָּצְרָה, בְּגִין דְּמִינָּהּ נָפְקוּ אוּכְלוּסִין דְּעָלְמָא, לְחַיְילָא עַל יְרוּשָׁלַם, וְאִינּוּן שָׁרוּ לְאוֹקְדָא הֵיכָלָא, וּבְנֵי אֱדוֹם מְפַגְרִין שׁוּרִין, וְרָמוּ אַבְנֵי יְסוֹדָא, הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב (תהילים קל״ז:ז׳) זְכוֹר יְיָ' לִבְנֵי אֱדוֹם וְגוֹ', הָאוֹמְרִים עָרוּ עָרוּ עַד הַיְסוֹד בָּהּ.

God shall come from Bozrah, because from there the world’s hosts went forth to war against Jerusalem, and they began to burn the Temple, and the children of Edom threw down the walls and destroyed the foundations.

Segment 3ג׳

זֶה הָדוּר בִּלְבוּשׁוֹ, בְּאִינּוּן לְבוּשֵׁי דְּנוּקְמָא דְּזַמִּין לְאַלְבְּשָׁא. צוֹעֶה בְּרוֹב כֹּחוֹ, מַהוּ צוֹעֶה. מְתָבַּר. כְּמָה דִּכְתִּיב, (תהילים מ״ה:ו׳) עַמִּים תַּחְתֶּיךָ יִפְּלוּ וְגוֹ'. אָמְרוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל לִישַׁעְיָה, מַאן הוּא דֵּין דְּיַעֲבֵיד כָּל כַּךְ. פָּתַח וְאָמַר, (ישעיהו ס״ג:א׳) אֲנִי מְדַבֵּר בִּצְדָקָה, הַהוּא דְּאִיהוּ רַב לְהוֹשִׁיעַ, הַהוּא דִּכְתִּיב בֵּיהּ, (תהילים ל״ג:ה׳) אוֹהֵב צְדָקָה וּמִשְׁפָּט. וְאִיהוּ צְדָקָה מַמָּשׁ, וְאִיהוּ רַב לְהוֹשִׁיעַ.

God will be “glorious in his apparel”, His robes of vengeance, and “marching in the greatness of his strength”. Said the Israelites to Isaiah: “Who is he that shall do all this?” He replied: “I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save”.
