Zohar, Chukat 7

Section 7 of 12 in Chukat — 4 segments

Segment 1

“It goes toward the south, and turns about to the north”: this is what is written, “At His right hand was a fiery law for them” (Deut. 33). “His right hand”, this is the south; “a fiery law”, this is the north. And the one is comprised within the other.

Segment 2

“Turning about, turning about goes the wind”. This verse presents a difficulty: it should have said, “turning about, turning about goes the sun”. What is “goes the wind”? Which wind is this? This is that which is “under the sun”, which is called the holy spirit. And this spirit goes and turns about to these two sides, to be joined with the body. And therefore it is written “the wind”, the one that is known; “the sun” without further definition, which is known as the portion of Israel.

Segment 3

“And the wind returns again upon its circuits”. What are “its circuits”? These are the patriarchs, who are the holy Chariot, and they are three; and David, four spirits that are joined in them. These, then, are the complete holy Chariot. And therefore it is written, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief corner-stone” (Ps. 118, 22).
