The fifth palace. This palace is the palace of shining lightning, for it is a spirit that flashes and gives light to those below. This spirit is comprehensive: it opens and closes, shines and sparkles to every side. From this sparkling one light shines out, like purple. This light comprises all the colours that shine: white light and black, red and green. These are comprised one within another. White is embroidered into red, black into green; and afterwards white into black, and there is made one embroidered Hayyah (living creature), and green and red are comprised in her. Her form is like the form of a man, which comprises all forms.

From her issued four supports, which are Hayyoth greater than those below. One is called Ofan (wheel), which is two; for when this one appears, another is lit within it. This one cleaves to that; this one enters that. Afterwards another enters, this into that, and four heads appear to the four quarters of the world, and they are all one body. And these are they of whom it is written, “as it were a wheel within a wheel” (Ezek. 1, 16). And all these are knotted one to another, after the appearance of the supernal Hayyoth, which are never parted. This Hayyah of four embroidered colours — they hold one to another, to the four sides. From here, when this Hayyah travels, it travels to two sides.
