Zohar, Bereshit 65
Section 65 of 102 in Bereshit — 11 segments
Segment 1
The second palace. It is written: “and like the substance of heaven for clearness” (Ex. 24, 10). Here is that spirit which is called Zohar (radiance). It abides always in whiteness, its colours never mingled with another, and it is a substance that never changes. This one is not revealed so as to sparkle like the other; this one is hard to disclose, like the closedness of the eye, which when it is turned radiates and sparkles in the turning. And so it is here too: for when that first spirit ascends, it turns it in its turning and discloses it, and is bound with it in the bond of the white of the eye, within another colour finer than itself, which rests upon it.
Segment 2
This spirit is turned from within the spirit below. The light below circles to turn this light, and it is lit; and it cannot give light until the lower one takes hold of it and is bound with it, and then it gives light. And it takes hold of the light below, which is entire and does not change at all, but is disclosed on its account, in its turning.
Segment 3
And when this light is turned, it takes another light to the left side, and it is turned with it and circles with it. And this is the mystery of what is written: “The roundings of your thighs are like the links of a chain, the work of the hands of a skilled workman” (S. S. 7, 2). Happy is he who knows how to disclose the lights.
