וְאֵלּוּ הֵם י"ב פִּקּוּדִין. א' יִחוּד יְיָ. ב' לְיִרְאָה אֵת יְיָ. ג' לְמִנְדַּע דְּאִית דָּיַּין וְאִית אֲגַר טָב וְכוּ'. ד' לְקַדֶשׁ אֵת יְיָ. ת לְהִתְפָּלֵל בְּכָל יוֹם שַׁחֲרִית מִנְחָה עַרְבִית. ו' לַעֲסוֹק בְּתוֹרָה. ז' לְמוּל אֵת הַבֶּן. ח' קַדֶּשׁ לִּי כָּל בְּכוֹר. ט' תְפִילִין. י' צִיצִית. י"א מֵזוּזָה. י"ב לִמְסוֹר נַפְשׁוֹ בִּדְבֵקוּת (ה').

And these are the twelve commandments. One: the unity of the Lord. Two: to fear the Lord. Three: to know that there is a Judge and that there is a good reward, and so forth. Four: to sanctify the Lord. Five: to pray every day — morning, afternoon and evening. Six: to occupy oneself with the Torah. Seven: to circumcise the son. Eight: “Sanctify to Me every firstborn.” Nine: tefillin. Ten: fringes. Eleven: mezuzah. Twelve: to surrender his soul in cleaving to the Lord.

אֵלּוּ הֵם י"ב פִּקּוּדֵי שָׁמוֹר. א' דְּלָא לְמִיהָב רֵבוּ לְעֲבוֹדָה זָרָה. ב' דְּלָא לְמִבְנֵי מִגְדַּל לְעֲבוֹדָה זָרָה. ג' אַל תִפְנוּ וְגוֹ' (שלא) לְהַרְהֵר אַחֲרֵיהֶם. ד' לֹא תִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה לָהֶם. ה' דְּלָא לְאִתְכָּפְיָּיא, דְּהַיְינוּ לא תָעָבְדֵם. ו' דְּלָא לְהַחֲלִיף יִחוּדָא דְּמָארֵיהּ דְּהַיְינוּ הַהֶמִיר. ז' דְּלָא לְהַרְהֵרָא, דְּהַיְינוּ לא תָתוּרוּ וְגוֹ'. ח' שֶׁלֹּא לִשְׁאוֹל בְּאוֹב. ט' שֶׁלּא לִשְׁאוֹל בְּיִדְעוֹנִי. י' שֶׁלֹּא לִדְרוֹשׁ אֶל הַמֵּתִים. י"א דְּלָא לְמֶעְבַּד חַרְשִׁין דְּהַיְינוּ וְחוֹבֵר חָבֶר. י"ב וְשֵׁם אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים שֶׁלֹּא תַזְכִּירוּ: (שמות כ׳:ג׳)

These are the twelve commandments of “Keep.” One: not to give greatness to strange worship. Two: not to build a tower for strange worship. Three: “Turn not,” and so forth — not to muse after them. Four: “You shall not bow down to them.” Five: not to subject oneself, which is “you shall not serve them.” Six: not to exchange the unity of his Master, which is the exchanging. Seven: not to muse, which is “you shall not go about after,” and so forth. Eight: not to inquire of a ghost. Nine: not to inquire of a familiar spirit. Ten: not to seek out the dead. Eleven: not to work sorceries, which is “or a charmer.” Twelve: “And make no mention of the name of other gods” (Ex. 20, 3).
