Segment 1

Sitrei Torah. “And he begat in his own likeness, after his image, and called his name Seth.” We learn from here that the others were not in his likeness. And this, “in his own likeness, after his image”, was made in the perfecting of his body and in the perfecting of the soul, in a straight way, as is fitting.

For before Adam sinned, the letters of the alphabet were being set in order in him and were being shaped through him in this world, until it reached the letter Kaph. Male and female were set in order in love in the garden, and the supernal angels before them. At once it was evil in the eyes of Samael in the firmament; and he came down and rode upon a mighty serpent and showed water before him. The letters were mingled…

Segment 3

Then Samael joined with that serpent, and they became one. And they took letters and made, from then onward, an evil craft with the letters Zaddik-Daleth — tzayid, a hunt — and that is Zaddik-Zaddik; and they hunted them with an evil enticement. And they made a further craft with the letters Koph-Resh, a craft of falsehood, because the letters were turned about (a variant reads: to turn about) in an evil craft. Koph, which cannot stand because it has no legs: kofa, an ape, before men, has no endurance. Resh: ra, evil. These were reversed in an evil craft, because Adam and his wife fell…
