Segment 1
R. Rehumai said: Glory and heart — behold, they are one; save that glory is so called after that which is above, and heart is so called after the working below. And this is the glory of the Name, and this is the heart of heaven. What is (Isa. 6, 3) “the whole earth is full of His glory”? Rather: all that earth which was created on the first day, which is above, corresponding to the land of Israel, is full of the glory of the Name. And what are they? The wise, as it is written, (Prov. 3, 35) “The wise shall inherit glory”; and it is written, (Ezek. 3, 12) “Blessed be the glory of the Lord from His place.”
Segment 2
And what is this glory? A parable: to what may the matter be compared? To a king who had the Matrona in his chamber, in whom all his hosts took delight. And she had sons, and they would come all day to see the face of the king and to bless him. They said to him: Where is our mother? He said to them: You cannot see her now. They said: Blessed be she in every place where she is.
Segment 3
And what is it that is written, “from His place”? From this it follows that there is none who knows His place. A parable of the Matrona who came from a far place, and they did not know from where she came, until they saw that she was a woman of valour, comely and seemly in all her deeds. They said: This one was surely taken from the light, and so by her deeds she lit up the world. They asked her: From where are you? She said to them: From my place. They said: If so, great are the men of your place. Blessed may you be, and blessed be your place.
