לָּמָה בֵּי"ת דּוֹמֶה לְאָדָם שֶׁנוֹצָר בְּחָכְמָה שֶׁסָתוּם מִכָּל צָד וּפַּתוּחַ מִלְפָנָיו וְהָאָלֶף פְתוּחָה מֵאַחֲרָיו רוֹצֶה לוֹמַר כִּי הִיא פְתוּחָה לְקַבֵּל מִן הַכֶּתֶר וְיֵשׁ לָהּ פְּתַח לְהַשְׁפִּיעַ לְאֲחֵרִים.
Why is Beth like a man who was formed in wisdom, who is closed on every side and open in front of him? And the Aleph is open behind him. That is to say: because she is open to receive from keter, and she has an opening to bestow upon others.
