Se’if 1א׳
An animal in which two intestines were found is a tereifah (an animal with a fatal defect) — such as where it has an extra intestine from its beginning to its end, so that two intestines are found side by side from beginning to end, like the intestine of a bird; or where the intestine goes out like a branch from a bough and it is separate, whether in a bird or in an animal. But if it went back and became mingled with the intestine and became one at its two ends, and the two of them are separate in the middle, this is permitted, and there is no extra part here. And there are those who say that when a small intestine goes out from the small intestines like a branch going out from a bough: if at the head of the maw, the place from which the small intestines go out, there is a whole finger's width before this intestine begins to part, and below too, after it has joined again with the rest of the small intestines, there is a whole finger's width, it is fit; and if not — that there is not a whole finger's width above and below — it is a tereifah, and that is the main ruling (Beit Yosef in the name of the Rashba and the Ran).
Se’if 2ב׳
In what case is this said? In an animal; but in a bird, in a like case, it is fit. And even if several branches go out from it, it is fit (Rabbeinu Yerucham).
Se’if 3ג׳
An intestine that goes out from the reticulum (that is, the end of the paunch is made like a cap and is called the beit hakosot, the reticulum, and the omasum is joined to it, and the food enters from the reticulum into the omasum, and that is the stomach; and because it dissolves the food it is called hemses, the omasum, from the sense of "kimsos noses") (Isaiah 10:18) to the omasum, (it is fit; and that which goes out from the reticulum to the paunch), it is a tereifah.
