Se’if 1א׳
Nothing is forbidden on account of kilayim (the forbidden mixture of wool and linen) except the wool of ewes and rams with linen. But camel's wool, and hare's wool, and goats' hair, and all other kinds are permitted with linen. And likewise hemp, and cotton, and all other kinds are permitted even with the wool of ewes and rams. And the Sages forbade silk with wool on account of the appearance to the eye, because it resembles linen. And likewise kalach — which is a kind that grows in the coastal cities on the stones that are in the sea, and resembles wool — they forbade it with linen on account of the appearance to the eye. And nowadays silk is common among us and everyone recognises it; therefore there is nothing in it on account of the appearance to the eye, and it is permitted with wool and with linen.
Se’if 2ב׳
A ewe born of a she-goat — its wool is forbidden with linen, on account of the appearance to the eye. Hagah [Rema]: And it is forbidden to sew a hemp garment beneath a woollen garment in a place where hemp is not common, on account of the appearance to the eye (Tur in the name of the Rosh); and in a place where it is common, it is permitted.
