Se’if 1א׳
One may always slaughter, whether by day or by night. In what case is this said? When a torch is over against him; but if there is no torch over against him, or it is by day in a dark place, he should not slaughter; and if he slaughtered, his slaughter is valid. And two lamps are reckoned as a torch. (Maharil and Agudah)
Se’if 2ב׳
One who slaughters on the Sabbath or on the Day of Atonement — even though, had he acted deliberately, on the Sabbath he would forfeit his life and on the Day of Atonement he would be flogged — his slaughter is valid.
Se’if 3ג׳
One may not slaughter into seas and rivers, so that they will not say: he is slaughtering to the prince of the sea (sara de-yama — the angelic power set over it); nor into vessels, so that they will not say: he is receiving the blood in order to sprinkle it to idols. And if there is water in the vessel, for then the blood is not fit for sprinkling — if they are clear he should not slaughter into it, so that they will not say he is slaughtering to the form that appears in the water; and if they are turbid, it is permitted. And likewise if there is earth in the vessel, it is permitted to slaughter into it.
