Se’if 1א׳
The laws of denial and admission, and that it be of the kind claimed; it contains thirty-three se'ifim. One who admits part of the claim is not obliged to swear until he admits at least a perutah and the denial is at least two silver ma'ot. Therefore he is not obliged until he claims from him two ma'ot and a perutah, and he admits a perutah and denies two ma'ot. But if he claimed from him two ma'ot and a perutah and he admitted to him two perutot — since there are not two ma'ot in the denial — or if he admitted half a perutah, he is exempt, since there is not a perutah in the admission. The measure of a perutah is the weight of half a barleycorn of pure silver, and the measure of two ma'ot is the weight of thirty-two barleycorns of pure silver.
Se’if 2ב׳
And likewise if he did not claim silver from him but kinds of merchandise, and he admitted part to him — they appraise the denial and the admission; if there is two ma'ot's worth in the denial and one perutah in the admission, he is liable.
Se’if 3ג׳
In what case are these words said? When he claimed produce or kinds of merchandise from him; but if he claimed two vessels from him and he admitted to him one of them, no measure is required — rather, even if they were ten needles for a perutah, and he claimed two and he admitted to him one of them, he is liable. He claimed silver and vessels from him; he admitted the vessels and denied the silver — if there are two ma'ot in the denial he is liable, and if not he is exempt. He admitted the silver and denied the vessels — if he admitted a perutah, he is liable.
