Inheritances· siman 277

Choshen Mishpat is set from the Lemberg 1898 edition, which is unpointed, so the vowels switch has nothing to remove here.

Se’if 1א׳

The firstborn takes a double portion; and which is a firstborn for inheritance, and a doubtful firstborn; it contains fifteen se'ifim. The firstborn takes a double portion of his father's property. How so? If he left five sons and one of them is the firstborn, the firstborn takes a third of the money, and each of the four ordinary sons takes a sixth. If he left nine sons, the one who is the firstborn takes a fifth, and each of the eight ordinary sons takes a tenth; and on this manner of division they divide always.

Se’if 2ב׳

These two portions he takes together, within one boundary.

Se’if 3ג׳

A firstborn who was born after his father's death does not take a double portion. And if his forehead came out in his father's lifetime, even though his whole head did not come out into the air of the world until after his father's death, he takes a double portion (some say that if he was born when his father was a goses (one in the throes of death), he does not take a double portion) (Nimukei Yosef in the name of the Tosafot and the Raavad).

…and 10 more se'ifim in this siman.
