Chapter 18 of 25 in Defilement by a Corpse — 8 halachot
Halacha 1
A person who overshadowed a corpse with one of his hands and overshadowed vessels with the other, or who touched a corpse and overshadowed vessels — if there is in his hand an opening of a handbreadth, the vessels are impure; and if not, they are pure. So too two houses in which there are two halves of an olive's bulk, and he stretched out his hand into this house and his other hand into the second house — if there is in his hand an opening of a handbreadth, he has mixed the impurity together and the whole has become as one tent, and he and the houses have become impure. And if not, he does not bring the impurity.
Halacha 2
A person who looked out through the window and overshadowed the impurity brings the impurity into the house, and the whole house has become impure. If he was lying upon the threshold with part of him inside the house and part of him outside, and impurity overshadowed the part of him that is outside, the house is impure — since a man is hollow and there is in him the height of a handbreadth, and once impurity has overshadowed him, this is as one who overshadows it, and he brings the impurity. So too if there was impurity in the house and pure persons overshadowed the part of him that is outside, these are impure, since he is as one who overshadows the impurity; and a person brings and does not interpose, as we have explained.
Halacha 3
The bearers of a corpse who passed with it under the portico, and one of them shut the door and propped it with a key so that the house should not become impure; and so too if a person, whether from within or from without, was propping the door — if the door is able to stand of itself, the house is pure; and if not, the house is impure, since it turns out that it is the person who interposed before the impurity, and a person and vessels bring and do not interpose, as we have explained.
