Segment 1
What is “holiness”? The supernal Place from which issues the source of the “deep stream”. When a man has come so far, they proclaim over him, “The Lord bless thee from Zion” (Ibid.); from the place in which the Community of Israel is blessed, from there He will furnish thee with blessings.
Segment 2
Also, “thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem” (Ps. 128, 5), to wit, the blessings that reach it from the King through that holy grade of the Righteous One.’
Segment 3
“And see your children’s children,” etc. “And see your children’s children” is well; but what is “peace be upon Israel”? What does “upon Israel” want here? But it is because he increases peace above: for when he merits all this, he increases peace above and below. “Peace be upon Israel”, without qualification. And peace is the praise of those above and those below; it is the praise of all the worlds. And words of the Torah increase peace in the world, as it is written, “The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace” (Ps. 29, 11).
