Segment 1
Ra'aya Meheimna (the Faithful Shepherd). “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one” (Deut. 6, 4). This precept (4) (see the Introduction, folio 13b): to unify the Name of the Holy One, blessed be He, every day; for just as they unify the Name of the Holy One, blessed be He, below, so is His Name unified above. The Holy One, blessed be He, is found one alone above and below. One who unifies the Name of the Holy One, blessed be He, must set his heart and his will upon that unity of which we have spoken, and join all his members in that unity, in that will, so that they may all be one. And as he sets all his members in the mystery of the One, so above he joins all the supernal members in that unity, so that they may all be one.
Segment 2
When a man comes to unify the Name of the Holy One, blessed be He, all the hosts of heaven, all of them, stand rank upon rank, so as to be set in order and comprised, all of them, in that unity, to stand in the mystery of the One in a single unity. All of them are set in order in their arrangements as is fitting. At that hour there stands one appointed minister, a servitor, who stands over two hundred and forty-eight worlds, and all of them are called members of the body. And this one is called He-Lamed-Nun-Yod-Vau; he stands waiting for that unity, and he it is who gathers lilies, as it says, “and to gather lilies” (S.S. 6, 2), which are the members of the body.
Segment 3
The supernal Name gathers the supernal members, in the mystery of the unity that is unified in the mystery of the forty-two Names. And it gathers all those supernal lilies; and this servitor gathers all those below, who are all of them appointed within the whole of the seventy-two Names. And all of them are gathered in that unity, and all of them are made one body, in one mystery. And that unity ascends and unifies all on two sides in a single unity. At that hour all the members are gathered and joined in one joining, so that they may all be in the mystery of the One, above and below, in the mystery of “the Lord is one and His Name one”.
