רִבִּי יֵיסָא (נדפס מקץ קצ"ו ע"ב) וְרִבִּי חִזְקִיָּה, הֲווֹ אַזְלֵי מִקַּפּוּטְקִיָּא לְלוּד, וַהֲוָה עִמְּהוֹן חַד יוּדָאי בְּמָטוּל דְּקַטְפִירָא דַּחֲמָרָא. עַד דַּהֲווֹ אַזְלֵי, אָמַר רִבִּי יֵיסָא לְרִבִּי חִזְקִיָּה, אַפְתַּח פּוּמָךְ, וְאֵימָא חַד מִלָּה, מֵאִינוּן מִלֵּי מְעַלְּיָיתָא דְּאוֹרַיְיתָא, דְּאַתְּ אֲמַרְתְּ בְּכָל יוֹמָא, קָמֵי בּוּצִינָא קַדִּישָׁא.
R. Jose and R. Hezekiah were once going from Cappadocia to Lydda, and with them was a Jew driving a donkey heavily laden.
Segment 2ב׳
פָּתַח וְאָמַר, (משלי ג׳:י״ז) דְּרָכֶיהָ דַּרְכֵי נֹעַם וְכָל נְתִיבוֹתֶיהָ שָׁלוֹם. דְּרָכֶיהָ דַּרְכֵי נֹעַם, אִלֵּין אוֹרְחִין דְּאוֹרַיְיתָא, דְּמַאן דְּאָזִיל בְּאוֹרְחֵי דְּאוֹרַיְיתָא, קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, אַשְׁרֵי עָלֵיהּ נְעִימוּתָא דִּשְׁכִינְתָּא, דְּלָא תַּעְדֵּי מִנֵיהּ לְעָלְמִין. וְכָל נְתִיבוֹתֶיהָ שָׁלוֹם, דְּכָל שְׁבִילִין דְּאוֹרַיְיתָא, כּוּלְהוֹן שְׁלָם. שְׁלָם לֵיהּ לְעֵילָּא, שְׁלָם לֵיהּ לְתַתָּא. שְׁלָם לֵיהּ בְּעָלְמָא דֵּין, שְׁלָם לֵיהּ בְּעָלְמָא דְּאָתֵי.
He discoursed on the verse: “Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace” (Prov. 3, 17). “Her ways are ways of pleasantness” — these are the ways of the Torah; for whoever walks in the ways of the Torah, the Holy One, blessed be He, rests upon him the pleasantness of the Shekinah, which shall never depart from him. “And all her paths are peace” — for all the byways of the Torah, all of them are peace: peace for him above, peace for him below; peace for him in this world, peace for him in the world to come.

אָמַר הַהוּא יוּדָאי, אִיסוּרָא בְּקִיסְטְרָא, בְּהַאי קְרָא אִשְׁתְּכַח. אֲמַר לֵיהּ מְנַּיִין לָךְ. אָמַר לֵיהּ, מֵאַבָּא שְׁמַעְנָא, וְאוֹלִיפְנָא הָכָא בְּהַאי קְרָא מִלָּה טָבָא.
That Jew said: A thing bound up in a case is to be found in this verse. He said to him: How do you know? He said to him: I heard it from my father, and I learnt a good thing here in this verse.
