Zohar, Tzav 23
Section 23 of 30 in Tzav — 3 segments
Segment 1
THIS (Zoth) IS THE ANOINTING PORTION OF AARON AND OF HIS SONS. R. Jose said: ‘Zoth (Shekinah) indeed is the anointing portion of Aaron, for he brought of the oil of the supernal anointing and caused it to flow below; and by the hand of Aaron Zoth was anointed with the holy anointing and drew blessing therefrom.
Segment 2
From this oil blessings flow by the hand of the priest, and the priest causes it to flow below and anoints this Zoth; hence, “this (Zoth) is the anointing portion of Aaron, etc.”
Segment 3
R. Jose said: “And the oil stayed” — as they have explained, for it is written, “in a horn, the son of oil” (Isa. 5, 1), and it is written, “your name is as ointment poured forth” (S. S. 1, 3): to show that from this oil blessings are drawn down by the hand of the priest, and the priest draws them down below, and anoints this Zoth. That is what is written, “This is the anointing portion of Aaron and the anointing portion of his sons”; and it is written, “like the goodly oil upon the head” (Ps. 133, 2). And it has been stated.
