Zohar, Sh'lach 40

Section 40 of 46 in Sh'lach — 2 segments

Segment 1

He goes and seeks to trouble the world, and the waters rise up out of the rest of the abysses, and seek to cover the world — those tears, hotter than all the fire in the world. And out of the strength of their heat the waters congeal within the sea that is frozen. And were it not that the Holy One, blessed be He, signalled one breath from the side of Abraham, from his pillar, and showed it over the world, it could not stand even one moment.

Segment 2

Those tears, when they fall into the sea, a voice is heard within the sea, as far as the cave of Machpelah. From the sound of their roaring, which is heard there when they enter into the sea, the first patriarchs are roused, and rise, and think that the Holy One, blessed be He, seeks to overturn the world — until a voice goes out and proclaims to them: Fear not, holy beloved ones; for your sakes the Holy One, blessed be He, remembers your children, and He seeks to redeem them, and you shall see it.
