Segment 1
Observe: that firmament, when it turns in its revolution, makes music with a melody; and from the sound of the roaring of the waters that well up, that melody is not known. All those basins that are on the four sides are filled from the welling of the waters that spring forth. Whoever is within stands there on two sides: one in joy, for there is no joy in the world like that joy, to fulfil “Serve the Lord with gladness” (Ps. 100, 2); and one in fear, for there is no fear in the world like that fear, to fulfil “Serve the Lord with fear” (Ps. 2, 11).
Segment 2
One fountain of water wells up from the east side; this is the one of which Ezekiel the prophet spoke. Of this fountain all the people of the world cannot finish the praise. In the place where it is born there, on the east side, its depth and its height are no more than a span, and no more.
Segment 3
When the waters well up and rise, all the kinds of pearls in the world rise with them, and they do not fall outside. Now they are seen in one colour; in a moment these fall, and behold others rise, of another colour, in every kind of colour in the world. Those pearls fall, and they do not fall outside.
