Segment 1א׳

אֶלְעָזָר בְּרִי, שַׁפִּיר קָאַמָרְת, כְּפוּם מַה דְּאוֹלִיפַת. אֲבָל חַס וְשָׁלוֹם, דְּאַף עַל גַּב דְּרָחֵל הֲוַת עֲקָּרָא בְּהַהוּא זִימְנָא, יַעֲקֹב חַכִּים הֲוָה. וְאִלְמָלֵא לָא יָדַע יַעֲקֹב, דְּלֵאָה אִנְתְּתֵיהּ, לָא קָבִיר לָהּ בִּמְעַרְתָּא, לְאִתְחַבְּרָא בַּהֲדֵּיהּ, בְּחִבּוּרָא חֲדָא, וִיהֵא קָבִיר לָהּ לְבַר מֵאַרְעָא. אֲבָל לְלֵאָה אָעִיל לָהּ גּוֹ אַרְעָא, וּלְרָחֵל שַׁוִּי לְבַר. מִית יַעֲקֹב, אִתְקְבַר בְּגַוָּוה, בְּחִבּוּרָא חֲדָא.

Eleazar, my son, you have spoken well, according to what you have learnt. But God forbid! For although Rachel was the mainstay at that time, Jacob was wise; and had Jacob not known that Leah was his wife, he would not have buried her in the cave, to be joined with him in one union, and he would have buried her outside the land. But Leah he brought within the land, and Rachel he set outside. When Jacob died, he was buried with her, in one union.

Segment 2ב׳

כְּמָה דְּעָבְדוּ כָּל שְׁאַר אֲבָהָן, אוּף הָכִי אָדָם. מֵתָה חַוָּה בְּקַדְמִיתָא, אִתְקַבְּרַת תַּמָּן. וְתַמָּן יָדַע אָדָם, דְּהַאי דּוּכְתָּא אִתְחֲזֵי לֵיהּ. מִית אָדָם, אִתְקְבַר בְּגַוָּוה בְּחִבּוּרָא חֲדָא. מֵתָה שָׂרָה אִתְקַבְּרַת תַּמָּן, וְחַוָּה חָמָאת, וְחַדָּאת לָקֳבְלָהּ, וְקָמַת וְקַבָּלָה לָהּ. שִׁיעוּרָא דְּחַוָּה לְגַבֵּי שָׂרָה, שִׁיעוּרָא דִּתְרֵין אַמִּין, וְלָא יַתִּיר. מֵת אַבְרָהָם, אִתְקְבַר לְגַבֵּי שָׂרָה, בְּחִבּוּרָא חֲדָא. מֵתָה רִבְקָה, אִתְקַבְּרַת תַּמָּן, וְשָׂרָה חָמָאת, וְקָמַת וְקִבְּלַת לָהּ. מֵת יִצְחָק, אִתְקְבַר בַּהֲדָהּ בְּחִבּוּרָא חֲדָא. מֵתָה לֵאָה, אִתְקַבְּרַת תַּמָּן, וְרִבְקָה חָמָאת, וְקָמַת, וְקַבָּלָה לָהּ. מֵת יַעֲקֹב, אִתְחֲבָּר בַּהֲדָהּ בְּחִבּוּרָא חֲדָא. וְכֻלְּהוּ דְּכַר וְנוּקְבָּא כַּחֲדָא, בְּחִבּוּרָא חֲדָא.

As all the rest of the patriarchs did, so too Adam. Eve died first and was buried there, and there Adam knew that this place was fitting for him. Adam died and was buried with her in one union. Sarah died and was buried there, and Eve saw and rejoiced towards her, and rose and received her. The measure of Eve beside Sarah is a measure of two cubits, and no more. Abraham died and was buried beside Sarah, in one union. Rebekah died and was buried there, and Sarah saw and rose and received her. Isaac died and was buried with her in one union. Leah died and was buried there, and Rebekah saw and rose and received her. Jacob died and was joined with her in one union. And they are all male and female together, in one union.

Segment 3ג׳

סִדּוּרָא דִּלְהוֹן הֵיךְ שָׁכְנֵי. נָשִׁין לְגַבֵּי נָשִׁין, וּדְכוּרִין לְגַבֵּי דְּכוּרִין. אָדָם בְּרֵישָׁא, חַוָּה סָמִיךְ לֵיהּ. שָׂרָה לְגַבֵּי חַוָּה. אַבְרָהָם סָמִיךְ לְשָׂרָה. יִצְחָק סָמִיךְ לְאַבְרָהָם. רִבְקָה סָמִיךְ לְיִצְחָק. לֵאָה סָמִיךְ לְרִבְקָה. יַעֲקֹב סָמִיךְ לְלֵאָה. אִשְׁתְּכַח אָדָם בְּסִטְרָא דָּא, יַעֲקֹב בְּסִטְרָא דָּא, דָּא רֵישָׁא, וְדָא סֵיפָא.

The order of them, how they lie: women beside women, and males beside males. Adam at the head, Eve next to him; Sarah beside Eve; Abraham next to Sarah; Isaac next to Abraham; Rebekah next to Isaac; Leah next to Rebekah; Jacob next to Leah. So Adam is found on this side and Jacob on that side, the one the beginning and the other the end.
