Segment 1

“And E-lohim said: ‘let’s make Adam’ (Gen. 1:26) – after every artist had finished their work, the Holy Blessed One said to them: I still have one work of art to make, which will be a partner for all of us. Join, all of you, and give it a little of yourselves, Me, too, I will join and give it a little of Me. This is why it is said “let’s make Adam in our image, as our likeness”. And the rabbis explain: Israel are called by the word ‘Adam’ and the idolaters are not, as it is written “For you—My flock, the flock that I tend—are Adam; and I am your God” (Ezekiel 34:31). And in this way: “Israel rejoices in the One Who makes them” (Psalms 149:2).

Segment 2

The holy lamp [R. Shimon Bar Yochai] said: Obviously, the one who said this was the teacher that disappeared in the rock of the snake [Moshe], about whom it is written “set your settlement in strength [eitan], set in the clefts of your nest” (Numbers 24:21). The three patriarchs are called strong ones [eitanim] and the fourth “settlement of strength” – because in him the halacha is established, as we say “halacha given to Moshe at Sinai”, since he connected to the 600,000 of Israel and illuminated them in Torah, as the sun (to the moon) that hides at night and illuminates all stars and constellations. Whenever we say “night” we mean exile, and this is “watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?” (Isaiah 21:11). And it reveals itself in the day, as it says “the morning was light” (Genesis 44:3). Day is Avraham, about whom it is said: “in the morning you shall behold the Honor of Ad-nai” (Ex. 16:7), “as Ad-nai lives, lie down till morning” (Rut 3:13).

Segment 3

Meanwhile, behold, the Faithful Shepherd came out of that rock and said: Holy Lamp, what does it avail me to hide myself from before you? For I have left no place that I did not enter to hide from you, and I did not find one. If so, it is not for me to conceal myself from you.
