Section 55 of 129 in Pinchas — 7 segments
Segment 1
One does not expound the Chariot to a single person — because he who expounds to a single one, with him there are two in the expounding. And there one need not make the voice heard in his prayer, but rather, “only her lips moved, but her voice could not be heard” (I Sam. 1, 13). And in this mystery: “and the stranger that draws near shall be put to death” (Num. 3, 10). And so in emanation (a variant reads: in prayer) each one prays in a whisper, so that his prayer is not heard by his fellow; like one who expounds to his fellow and would keep his speech silent toward him — he need do nothing but speak in a whisper, so that his fellow does not hear. And therefore the Rabbis explained: Whoever makes his voice heard in his prayer is of those of little faith.
Segment 2
And therefore the Hayyoth of fire above speak like the branches of the tree, for they would gather there as at the wedding festivities of bridegroom and bride. In what place? In the reciting of the Shema, where there is “And I heard the noise of their wings”; which are sixty-four to four wings: four times sixty-four amount to Resh-Nun-Vau (two hundred and fifty-six). And this is “Sing (ronnu) with gladness for Jacob” (Jer. 31, 7). When? After He takes vengeance on His enemies and burns their idols; this is what is written, “And when the wicked perish, there is song” (Prov. 11, 10). It is the lamp (a variant reads: forty years), to complete seventy-two, seventy-two, seventy-two. And sixty-four hang.
Segment 3
And sixty-four hang from the eight, Aleph-Zain. And so sixty-four from the eight, Aleph-Zain, to four sides: two hundred and fifty-six. And when it reaches thirty-two, which are Aleph-Zain, Aleph-Zain, Aleph-Zain, Aleph-Zain, which are Heth, Heth, Heth, Heth, Yod is joined to each side, to make Heth-Yod: eighteen Tetragrammatons, in the eighteen blessings of the prayer, in which there are eighteen times the Tetragrammaton, which amount to seventy-two. At that time when the Tetragrammaton is joined with Adonai in the Life of the worlds — Yod-Aleph-He-Daleth-Vau-Nun-He-Yod — at once the Hayyoth of fire are silent. What is written of them? “When they stood, they let down their wings” (Ezek. 1, 24). “When they stood” — Israel in exile (a variant reads: in prayer) — “they let down their wings”, so that they are not known until that hour.
