The Zohar · Pinchas
Zohar, Pinchas 32
Section 32 of 129 in Pinchas — 2 segments
Segment 1
Another interpretation: “Keep my soul, for I am pious” — why? So that I may deal piously with Ani (I), of whom it is said: Ani va-Ho. Woe to him who separates Ani from Hu (He), as it is said, “It is He who made us, and not we ourselves” (Ps. 100, 3); for all is one, without separation. This is what is written, “See now that I, even I, am He; I kill, and I make alive; I have wounded, and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of My hand” (Deut. 32, 39). “I am the Lord” — I am He, and no other. And this Ani is from Adonai; the Tetragrammaton is the Central Column.
Segment 2
And because the Tetragrammaton is to the right, which is chesed, he said, “Keep my soul” — that I may deal piously with You together with Ani; and that is Adonai, toward gevurah (severity). And in tiferet (beauty) the two names are joined: Yod-Aleph-He-Daleth-Vau-Nun-He-Yod. And the mystery of the matter, in chesed and in gevurah: “And their faces and their wings were separate above” (Ezek. 1, 11). And in tiferet, which is called “The Lord is a man (ish) of war” (Ex. 15, 3), what is written? “Two were joined one (ish) to another” (Ezek. 1, 11): two names are joined in it together. “And two covered their bodies”: tiferet is called body — “His body also was like the beryl” (Dan. 10, 6) — Yod-Aleph-He-He-Vau-Yod-He-He.
