Segment 1א׳

אָמַר בּוּצִינָא קַדִּישָׁא, רַעְיָא מְהֵימָנָא, בְּגִין דָּא, אַנְתְּ מְתַקֵּן, בְּחִבּוּרָא דָּא, דְּרמ"ח פִּקּוּדִין. לְאַמְלְכָא לְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא עַל כָּל אֵבָרִים דִּשְׁכִינְתָּא, בְּכָל פִּקּוּדָא וּפִקּוּדָא, וְלֵית אַנְתְּ חָיִישׁ לִיקָרָךְ. זַכָּאָה חוּלָקָךְ, דִּכְגַוְונָא דְּאַנְתְּ מַמְלִיךְ לְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא בְּכָל אֵבָרִים דִּשְׁכִינְתָּא, דְּאִינּוּן בַּעֲלֵי מִדּוֹת, דְּכָל יִשְׂרָאֵל. מָארֵי מִדּוֹת אִינּוּן אֵבָרִים דִּשְׁכִינְתָּא, הָכִי עָבִיד קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא לְשַׁרְיָא שְׁמֵיהּ עָלָךְ, וְיַמְלְכִינָךְ, עַל כָּל מַשְׁרְיָין עִלָּאִין וְתַתָּאִין (שופטים ער"ה ע"א לא יקום עד אחד).

The Holy Lamp said: Faithful Shepherd, for this reason you set in order, in this work, the two hundred and forty-eight precepts — to make the Holy One, blessed be He, king over all the limbs of the Shekinah in each and every precept; and you have no care for your own honour. Happy is your portion! For just as you make the Holy One, blessed be He, king over all the limbs of the Shekinah, who are the bearers of the measures of all Israel — the masters of the measures are the limbs of the Shekinah — so will the Holy One, blessed be He, cause His Name to rest upon you, and make you king over all the camps above and below.

קוּם רַעְיָא מְהֵימָנָא, לְסַדְּרָא דִּינִין בְּהִלְכוֹת נְזִקִין, בְּסִדּוּרָא דִּשְׁמָא דָּא, הָוָיָ"ה. דְּאִיהוּ, (תהילים ס״ח:י״ח) רֶכֶב אֱלהִים רִבּוֹתַיִם אַלְפֵי שִׁנְאָן, דְּאִינּוּן, שׁוֹר נֶשֶׁר אַרְיֵה אָדָם, דְּהָא מִסִּטְרָא דִּימִינָא, דְּתַּמָּן יְדוָֹ"ד, ד' חִיוָון, הָכִי אִיהוּ סִדּוּרָא דִּלְהוֹן, אָדָם אַרְיֵה נֶשֶׁר שׁוֹר. וּכְפוּם שִׁנּוּיִין דְּהֲוָיָין, הָכִי אִיהוּ תְּנוּעָה וְסִדּוּרָא דְּחֵיוָן. וְחֵיוָן דְּסִטְרָא אַחֲרָא, דְּאִינּוּן נְזִיקִין דִּשְׂמָאלָא, הָכִי סִדּוּרַיְיהוּ, שִׁנְאָן. וּבְגִין דָּא, הַתְחָלָה דִּלְהוֹן, הַשּׁוֹר. קָשׁוּר בְּד' אָבוֹת נְזִיקִין, הַשּׁוֹר וְהַבּוֹר וְהַמַּבְעֶה וְהַהֶבְעֵר וְסִיּוּמָא דִּלְהוֹן אָדָם, מוּעָד.

Rise, Faithful Shepherd, to set out the judgements in the laws of damages, in the order of this Name, Havayah. For it is “the chariots of God are myriads, thousands of Shin’an” (Ps. 68, 18) — which are ox, eagle, lion, man. For from the right side, where the Tetragrammaton is, the four Hayoth, this is their order: man, lion, eagle, ox. And according to the changes that occur, so is the movement and the order of the Hayoth. And the Hayoth of the other side, which are the damagers of the left — this is their order: Shin’an. And therefore their beginning is the ox. It is bound up in the four principal damagers, the ox and the pit and the grazing beast and the fire; and their conclusion is man, forewarned.

קוּם אַתְעַר בְּדִינִין. פָּתַח רַעְיָא מְהֵימָנָא וְאָמַר, (תהילים נ״א:י״ז) אֲדֹנָי שְׂפָתַי תִּפְתָּח וּפִי יַגִּיד תְּהִלָּתֶךָ. אֲדֹנָ"י, בְּהִפּוּךְ אַתְוָון דִּינָ"א. וּבְגִין דָּא, אָמְרוּ מָארֵי מַתְנִיתִין, דִּינָ"א דְּמַלְכוּתָא דִּינָא. כָּל דִּינִין בְּהַאי שְׁמָא אִתְדָנוּ. (ס"א בה' בד' וכו') בְּד', בְּג'. בְּד': שְׁכִינְתָּא (ס"א בית דין בג' בית דין שכינתא בג') לָקֳבֵל תְּלַת אֲבָהָן. עַמּוּדָא דְּאֶמְצָעִיתָא, דַּיָּין אֱמֶת, וְהוּא דַּיָּין, לָדוּן מִסִּטְרָא דַּאֲדֹנָ"י, דְּתַּמָּן אִיהוּ דַּיָּין אֱמֶת. וּמִסִּטְרָא דְּשֵׁם אֱלהִים, שׁוֹפֵט. הֲדָא הוּא דִּכְתִּיב, (תהילים ע״ה:ח׳) כִּי אֱלֹהִים שׁוֹפֵט.

Rise, awaken among the judgements. The Faithful Shepherd discoursed on the verse: “O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall declare Your praise” (Ps. 51, 17). Adonai (Lord) — by transposition of letters, dina (judgement). And therefore the sages of the Mishnah have said: the law of the kingdom is law. All judgements are judged by this Name. By four, by three. By four: the Shekinah, over against the three patriarchs. The Central Column is a true judge, and he is the judge, to judge from the side of Adonai, where he is a true judge; and from the side of the name Elohim, judge, as it is written: “For God is judge” (Ps. 75, 8).
