Section 13 of 30 in Mishpatim — 7 segments
Segment 1
YOU SHALL NOT FOLLOW A MULTITUDE TO DO EVIL, ETC.; AFTER A MULTITUDE TO INCLINE. “After a multitude to incline”: there is no ‘multitude’ less than three; and if there is no court of three, there is no inclining after its judgement. The court: the Shekinah. In three: the three Hayoth of her chariot. And she is the law of the Torah, a true judgement — the Central Column. And every judge who does not judge a true judgement according to its truth, it is as though he set Samael to rule over the world: “and it cast down truth to the ground” (Dan. 8, 12). And he casts down the Shekinah with him, and raises up Gehenna, the mate of Samael, together with Samael. In the place of a true judgement he raises up a lying lip. A true judgement: the Central Column. A lying lip: Gehenna and Samael.
Segment 2
And therefore, when a judge judges a case, Gehenna is open before him on his left — the mate of Samael; and a sword is upon his neck — the angel of death; Samael is behind him, above his neck. And the Garden of Eden is open on his right, and the Tree of Life is open before him, above his head.
Segment 3
If he judges a false judgement, the angel of death rules over him and slaughters him, and afterwards burns him in Gehenna. And if he judges a true judgement, the Holy One, blessed be He, brings him into the Garden of Eden and gives him to taste of the Tree of Life, of which it is written, “and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever” (Gen. 3, 22) — which was created with the Torah, of which it is said, “She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her” (Prov. 3, 18). The tree of life: tiferet. Its life: chochmah and binah. The life of the King, indeed.
