זוהר, קרח ז׳Zohar, Korach 7

Segment 1א׳

רִבִּי אֶלְעָזָר הֲוָה קָאִים קַמֵּיהּ דְּרִבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן אֲבוּהָ, אָמַר לֵיהּ, כְּתִיב (קהלת ט׳:ט׳) רְאֵה חַיִּים עִם אִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר אָהַבְתָּ כָּל יְמֵי חַיֵּי הֶבְלֶךָ. אָמַר לֵיהּ, תָּא חֲזֵי, רְאֵה חַיִּים עִם אִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר אָהַבְתָּ (ס"א והוה אמר רבי שמעון כתיב (קהלת ט׳:ט׳) ראה חיים עם אשה אשר אהבת) דָּא הוּא רָזָא, דְּבָעֵי בַּר נָשׁ לְאַכְלְלָא חַיִּים בַּאֲתָר דָּא, דָּא בְּלָא דָּא לָא אָזְלָא. וּבָעֵי בַּר נָשׁ לְאַכְלְלָא מִדַּת יוֹם בַּלַּיְלָה, וּמִדַּת לַיְלָה בַּיוֹם. וְדָא הוּא רְאֵה חַיִּים עִם אִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר אָהַבְתָּ מַאי טַעַמָא בְּגִין כִּי הִיא חֶלְקֶךָ בַּחַיִים, דְּחָיִים לָא שַׁרְאָן אֶלָּא עַל דָּא. וּבַעֲמָלְךָ אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה עָמֵל תַּחַת הַשָּׁמֶשׁ, כְּמָה דְּאָמַר (משלי ג׳:ו׳) בְּכָל דְּרָכֶיךָ דָעֵהוּ וְהוּא יְיַשֵּׁר אֹרְחוֹתֶיךָ.

As R. Eleazar was once standing before his father, R. Simeon, he quoted to him the verse: “See life with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity” (Eccl. 9, 9). ‘This’, he said, ‘is a hint to a man that he should unite Life with this place, the measure of day with the measure of night.

Segment 2ב׳

וְתָּא חֲזֵי כָּל מִלּוֹי דִּשְׁלֹמֹה מַלְכָּא, כֻּלְּהוּ סְתִימִין לְגוֹ בְּחָכְמְתָא, וְהָנֵי קְרָאֵי אִתְחָזוּן דְּהוּתָּרָה רְצוּעָה, כְּמָה דִּכְתִּיב בַּתְרֵיהּ, (נ"א אמר ליה רבי אלעזר כתיב) כֹּל אֲשֶׁר תִּמְצָא יָדְךָ לַעֲשׂוֹת בְּכֹחֲךָ עֲשֵׂה כִּי אֵין מַעֲשֶׂה וְחֶשְׁבּוֹן וְגוֹ'. הַאי קְרָא אִית לְאִסְתַּכְּלָא בֵּיהּ, (קהלת ט׳:י׳) כֹּל אֲשֶׁר תִּמְצָא יָדְךָ לַעֲשׂוֹת בְּכֹחֲךָ עֲשֵׂה, וְכִי שְׁלֹמֹה דְּחָכְמְתָא עִלָּאָה בֵּיהּ, יַתִּיר עַל כָּל בְּנֵי עָלְמָא, אָמַר הָכִי.

All Solomon’s words’, he went on, ‘are written in wisdom, yet it would seem that here he is giving the rein to worldliness, and equally in the words that follow: “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do with thy might, for there is no work nor device”, etc. How could the wise Solomon speak thus? But, indeed, all the words of Solomon have a deep inner significance. What is indicated here is that a man should always merge the left in the right, and all his actions should be controlled by the right. Thus we interpret, “all that thy hand findeth to do” of the left, and “that do with thy might” of the right.

Segment 3ג׳

אֶלָּא (נ"א אמר ליה) כָּל מִלּוֹי דִּשְׁלֹמֹה מַלְכָּא עַל רָזָא דְּחָכְמְתָא אִתְּמָרוּ. תָּא חֲזֵי, כֹּל אֲשֶׁר תִּמְצָא יָדְךָ לַעֲשׂוֹת בְּכֹחֲךָ עֲשֵׂה, דָּא הוּא דְּבָעֵי בַּר נָשׁ לְאַכְלְלָא שְׂמָאלָא בִּימִינָא, וְכָל מַה דְּהוּא עָבִיד, מִבָּעֵי לֵיהּ דְּלָא יְהוֹן אֶלָּא כְּלִילָן בִּימִינָא. כֹּל אֲשֶׁר תִּמְצָא יָדְךָ, דָּא שְׂמָאלָא. לַעֲשׂוֹת בְּכֹחֲךָ: דָּא הוּא יְמִינָא, כְּמָה דְאַתְּ אָמֵר (שמות ט״ו:ו׳) יְמִינְךָ יְיָ נֶאְדָּרִי בַּכֹּחַ. וְכֵיוָן דְּבַר נָשׁ יִזְדְהָר דְּכָל עוֹבָדוֹי יֵהוֹן לְסִטְרָא דִּימִינָא, וְיַכְלִיל שְׂמָאלָא בִּימִינָא, כְּדֵין קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא שָׁארֵי בְּגַוִּויהּ בְּהַאי עָלְמָא, וְיַכְנִישׁ לֵיהּ לְגַבֵּיהּ לְהַהוּא עָלְמָא דְּאָתֵי.

Thus we interpret, “all that thy hand findeth to do” of the left, and “that do with thy might” of the right. When a man is careful that all his acts should be towards the right side, and that he should include the left in the right, then God dwells within him in this world and brings him into the next world.
