Section 14 of 14 in Korach — 4 segments

Segment 1

“At the commandment of the Lord they encamped, and at the commandment of the Lord they journeyed; they kept the charge of the Lord” (Num. 9, 23). For every Yod has four faces. There are three living creatures, corresponding to the three Yods, and four faces to each living creature, corresponding to the four faces (a variant reads: letters) of the Tetragrammaton: “at the commandment of the Lord they encamped and journeyed.”

Segment 2

“They kept” — this is the Shekinah, who guards those who keep the Sabbaths and the festivals; and therefore the Shekinah did not depart from Israel on any Sabbath or festival day, and even on the Sabbaths (a variant reads: on the days) of the profane, except that in them she is shut up and closed.

Segment 3

And in every prayer she ascends to the Tetragrammaton, until she reaches the chariot of the supernal patriarchs, which are gedulah (greatness), gevurah, tiferet, which have twelve faces corresponding to the twelve tribes. And according as she teaches merit for these masters of prayer and masters of merits, in each and every precept of the Torah, so “they encamp” upon their merits, and so “they journey” toward them; and so the guardianship descends toward them.
