The Zohar · Idra Zuta
Zohar, Idra Zuta 30
Section 30 of 43 in Idra Zuta — 3 segments
Segment 1
And therefore each one is found according to his ways: from one brain, in those smooth locks, the lords of the balance (a variant reads: of love) are drawn, as it is written, “All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth.”
Segment 2
From the second brain, in those strong locks, the lords of wailing and howling are drawn and hang, of whom it is written, “The way of the wicked is as darkness; they do not know at what they stumble.” What does it speak of? But “they do not know” — that is to say, they do not know, and do not wish to know — “at what (ba-meh) they stumble.” Do not read ba-meh, but be-imma (in the Mother) they stumble: in those who are joined on the side of the Mother. What is the side of the Mother? Strong gevurah: from it the lords of wailing and howling are joined.
Segment 3
From the third brain, in those locks that are in the middle, the lords of the attributes (a variant reads: of lords) are drawn and hang. And they are called faces that shine and do not shine. And of these it is written, “Make plain the path of your feet” (Prov. 4, 26). And all is found in those locks of the hair of the head.
