Segment 1
What is this inheritance? The heritage of his Father and Mother, and two crowns that were treasured within them, and they bequeathed them to this son. From the side of his Father, one crown was treasured within him, which is called chesed; and from the side of the Mother, one crown, which is called gevurah (might). And all of them are crowned on his head, and he holds them. And when these, Father and Mother, shine upon him, all of them are called the phylacteries of the head. And this son takes all, and inherits all, and spreads through the whole body. And this son gives to the daughter, and the daughter is nourished from him. And in any case, from here: the son inherits and not the daughter; the son inherits his father and his mother, and not the daughter; and from him the daughter is nourished, as it is written, “and in it was food for all” (Dan. 4, 9). (a variant adds: And if you say: all this and that are called Zaddik (the Righteous One) and Zedek (righteousness) — they are in one, and all is one.)
Segment 2
These, Father and Mother, are comprised and joined one in the other; and the Father is more hidden. And all is held from the Holy Ancient One, and hangs from the holy mazzal, the preciousness (a variant reads: the precious one) of all precious things. And these, Father and Mother, set the house in order, as I have said, as it is written, “Through wisdom is a house built; and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge are the chambers filled with all precious and pleasant riches” (Prov. 24, 3-4); and it is written, “For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you” (Prov. 22, 18). (a variant adds: These are the sum of all, as I have said, and they hang from the holy, precious mazzal.)
Segment 3
R. Simeon said: In the Assembly I did not reveal all; and all these words were hidden in my heart until now, and I wished to hide them away for the world to come, because there a question is asked of us, as it is written, “And the stability of your times shall be a hoard of salvation — wisdom and knowledge,” etc. (Isa. 33, 6); and wisdom they will require of me. And now the will of the Holy One, blessed be He, is in this; so, without shame, I shall enter before His palace.
