Section 20 of 51 in Emor — 5 segments
Segment 1
So, too, when Aaron blessed the people he raised his right hand above his left, so that the action below should stimulate a corresponding action above.’
Segment 2
It is written, “then you shall sound the shofar of blasting in the seventh month,” etc. (Lev. 25, 9). Why “the shofar of blasting”? Because the shofar breaks chains, it breaks the dominion from all bondmen. And it must show a shofar that is straight and not bent, to show freedom to all, for the day brings this about. And in everything an act must be shown; and therefore a shofar and not a horn, in order to show which is the place that is called shofar.
Segment 3
Happy are Israel in this world and in the world to come, for they know how to cleave to the holy King, and to awaken the power that is above, and to draw the holiness of their Master upon themselves. Therefore it is written, “Happy are you, O Israel: who is like you,” etc. (Deut. 33, 29); “But you that cleave to the Lord your God are alive every one of you this day” (Deut. 4, 4).
