Section 12 of 51 in Emor — 3 segments

Segment 1

Ra'aya Meheimna (the Faithful Shepherd). “But a virgin of his own people shall he take to wife.” The Faithful Shepherd opened and said: This precept is for the High Priest to take a virgin, as it is written, “A widow, or one divorced, or a profaned woman, or a harlot, these shall he not take; but a virgin of his own people shall he take to wife.” And why do we require that he take none but a virgin without blemish? Because a woman is a cup of blessing, and one who has tasted of it has blemished it. And the priest who offers the offering before the Lord must himself be whole, without blemish: whole in his limbs, without blemish, for blemishes disqualify priests; whole in his body, whole in his wife, so that there may be fulfilled in him, “You are all fair, my love, and there is no spot in you” (S.S. 4, 7).

Segment 2

For the offering is a meal-offering, and Israel must send their meal-offering to the King by a whole man (in the body), for they are the reverse of the other side: it was by the hand of a blemished man appointed for the time that they used to send it its gift, as it is written, “one lot for the Lord, and the other lot for Azazel” (Lev. 16, 8). For the other gods are all blemished, from the north side; and so most of the houses of idolatry are blemished, and in their female, desolation, Lilith, blemish, and so forth.

Segment 3

He is a full Vau, and He is in this order: Yod-He-Vau. The last He is a cup full of the blessing of the Lord, from the side of the right and from the side of gevurah (might), which is judgement. The Shekinah is called by the Tetragrammaton. That is what is written, “Behold, the hand of the Lord is upon your cattle which are in the field” (Ex. 9, 3). The Faithful Shepherd rose and prostrated himself before him, and said: Happy is my portion, that the Matrona and my Master are my help. (End of Ra'aya Meheimna)
