Segment 1א׳

פָּתַח רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן וְאָמַר, (תהילים ק״ד:י׳) הַמְשַׁלֵּחַ מַעְיָנִים בַּנְּחָלִים וְגוֹ'. יַשְׁקוּ כָּל חַיְתוֹ שָׂדָי וְגוֹ'. הָנֵי קְרָאֵי דָּוִד מַלְכָּא בְּרוּחָא קַדִּישָׁא אַמָרָן, וְאִית לְאִסְתַּכְּלָא בְּהוּ. תָּא חֲזֵי, בְּשַׁעֲתָא דְּחָכְמְתָא עִלָּאָה בָּטַשׁ בִּגְלִיפוֹי, אַף עַל גַּב דְּהִיא טְמִירָא בְּכָל סִטְרִין, פָּתַח וְאִתְנְגִיד מִנֵּיהּ חַד נַהֲרָא, מַלְיָא (נ"א ומלייא לתרעין) בְּתַרְעִין עִלָּאִין.

R. Simeon discoursed on the verse: “He sends forth springs into the valleys”, etc. (Ps. 104, 10), “they give drink to every beast of the field”, etc. ‘These verses King David uttered in the holy spirit, and they call for close examination. Observe: when the supernal Wisdom strikes upon its engravings — although it is hidden on every side — it opens, and one river is drawn forth from it, filling the supernal gates.

Segment 2ב׳

כְּמַבּוּעָא וּמְקוֹרָא דְּמַיָא דְּמָלֵּי קוּזְפָא רַבָּא מִנֵּיהּ, וּמִתַּמָּן אִתְמַשְּׁכָן מַבּוּעִין דְּנַחֲלִין וְנַהֲרִין בְּכָל סְטָר, כַּךְ הַאי, בְּחַד שְׁבִיל דָּקִיק דְּלָא אִתְיְידַע, מָשִׁיךְ וְנָגִיד הַהוּא נָהָר דְּנָגִיד וְנָפִיק, וּמְמַלֵּי לְהַהוּא נַחֲלָא עֲמִיקָא, וּמִתַּמָּן אִתְמַשְּׁכָאן מַבּוּעִין וּנְחָלִין, וְאִתְמַלְּיָין מִנֵּיהּ. הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב, הַמְשַׁלֵּחַ מַעְיָנִים בַּנְּחָלִים וְגוֹ'. אִלֵּין נַהֲרֵי עִלָּאֵי קַדִּישָׁא דְּאֲפַרְסְמוֹנָא דַּכְיָיא, וְכֻלְּהוּ אִתְשַׁקְיָין כְּחַד מֵהַהוּא נְבִיעָא דְּנַחֲלָא עִלָּאָה קַדִּישָׁא דְּנָפִיק וְנָגִיד.

Like a spring and a source of water that fills a great basin out of itself, and from there springs of brooks and rivers are drawn out on every side, so is this: by one narrow path that is not known, that river which issues and flows is drawn and led on, and it fills that deep stream; and from there springs and brooks are drawn out and are filled from it. This is what is written: “He sends forth springs into the valleys”, etc. These are the supernal holy rivers of pure balsam, and all of them are watered as one from that fountain of the supernal holy stream that issues and flows.

Segment 3ג׳

לְבָתַר, יַשְׁקוּ כָּל חַיְתוֹ שָׂדָי, הַיְינוּ דִּכְתִּיב, (בראשית ב׳:י׳) וּמִשָּׁם יִפָּרֵד וְהָיָה לְאַרְבָּעָה רָאשִׁים. הָנֵי ד' רָאשִׁין, אִלֵּין אִינּוּן חַיְתוֹ שָׂדָי, כְּלָלָא דְּכָל אִינּוּן מַשִׁרְיָין, וְכָל אִינּוּן חַיָּילִין, דַּאֲחִידָן בְּהוּ שָׂדַי, אַל תִּקְרֵי שָׂדָי, אֶלָּא שַׁדָּי. דְּהוּא נָטִיל, וְאַשְׁלִים שְׁמָא מִיְּסוֹדָא דְּעָלְמָא.

Afterwards, “they give drink to every beast of the field”: this is as it is written, “and from there it parted, and became four heads” (Gen. 2, 10). These four heads are the beasts of the field, the sum of all those legions and all those hosts that cleave to them: saday. Read not saday but Shaddai, for it takes and completes the Name from the foundation of the world.

Segment 4ד׳

יִשְׁבְּרוּ פְרָאִים צְמָאָם, אִלֵּין אִינּוּן דִּכְתִּיב בְּהוּ, (יחזקאל א׳:כ׳) וְהָאוֹפַנִּים יִנָּשְׂאוּ לְעֻמָּתָם כִּי רוּחַ הַחַיָּה בָּאוֹפַנִּים, מַאן חַיָּה. אֶלָּא אִלֵּין חַיְתוֹ שָׂדָי, אַרְבַּע אִינּוּן, וְכָל חַד וְחַד לְחַד סִטְרָא דְּעָלְמָא. וְהַהוּא אִקְרֵי חַיָּה, וְאוֹפַנִּים לָקֳבֵיל כָּל חַד וְחַד. וְלָא אַזְלִין אֶלָּא מֵרוּחַ דְּהַהִיא חַיָּה דְּאָזִיל עָלַיְיהוּ וְכַד אִלֵּין מִתְשַׁקְיָין מֵהַהוּא שַׁקְיוּ עִלָּאָה, כָּל שְׁאַר חַיָּילִין אַחֲרָנִין אִשְׁתַּקְיָין, וְאִתְרַוָון, וּמִשְׁתָּרְשָׁן בְּשָׁרְשַׁיְיהוּ, וְאִתְאַחֲדָן אִלֵּין בְּאִלֵּין, בְּדַרְגִּין יְדִיעָן. הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב, עֲלֵיהֶם עוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם יִשְׁכּוֹן וְגוֹ'. מַשְׁקֶה הָרִים מֵעֲלִיּוֹתָיו וְגוֹ'. אִלֵּין שְׁאַר דַּרְגִּין עִלָּאִין.

“The wild asses quench their thirst”: these are they of whom it is written, “and the Ofanim (wheels) were lifted up beside them, for the spirit of the Hayah was in the Ofanim” (Ezek. 1, 20). What is the Hayah? These are the beasts of the field. They are four, and each one to one quarter of the world; and that one is called Hayah, and there are Ofanim answering to each and every one. And they do not move save by the spirit of that Hayah which goes over them. And when these are watered from that supernal watering, all the other hosts are watered and satisfied, and take root in their roots, and cleave one to another in known grades. This is what is written: “Beside them the fowl of the heaven dwell”, etc.; “He waters the mountains from His upper chambers”, etc. These are the other supernal grades.

Segment 5ה׳

לְבָתַר כָּל דָּא, מִפְּרִי מַעֲשֶׂיךָ תִּשְׂבַּע הָאָרֶץ, (ס"א לתתא וכל עלמין וכו') אַרְעָא עִלָּאָה קַדִּישָׁא. וְכַד אִיהִי מִתְבָּרְכָא, כָּל עָלְמִין כֻּלְּהוּ חַדָּאן, וּמִתְבָּרְכָאן. דָּא בְּשַׁעֲתָא דְּבִרְכָּאן מִשְׁתַּכְּחֵי, מִשַּׁקְיוּ דְּנַחֲלָא (בראשית רכ"א ע"א) עֲמִיקָא דְּכֹלָּא.

After all this, “the earth is full of the fruit of Your works”: the supernal holy earth. And when she is blessed, all the worlds rejoice and are blessed. This is when blessings are found, from the watering of the deep stream of all.
