Segment 1
The first palace. A place that is set in order below to be after the pattern of that which is above. The Companions have already discussed the ordinances of the Garden of Eden, how it stands in the supernal mystery; and no eye has power over it save the souls of the righteous, that they may be graven above and below, and may gaze from there upon the mystery of their Master and upon the delight of the world above.
Segment 2
And these are the righteous who did not exchange the glory of their Master for a strange god. It is written, “A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband” (Prov. 12, 4) — the mystery of faith: that a man should cleave to his Master and fear Him continually, and not turn aside to the right or to the left. And we have established that a man should not go after a strange god, which is called “a wife of harlotry”. And therefore it is written, “To keep you from the strange woman, from the alien woman who makes her words smooth” (Prov. 7, 5).
Segment 3
This palace stands in the likeness of the supernal mystery. For when the souls of the righteous depart from this world they enter into these palaces that are in the lower Garden of Eden, and there each one of them sits for all that time in which the soul must remain there.
